For any business considering an investment in high security doors and are unsure whether to opt for wood or steel doors the following real life story will help make that decision;
A high-rise apartment building wished to offer residents the highest possible security. Double steel security doors were installed in every unit. One day whilst out & about, an elderly tenant had an accident and was taken to the hospital. Neighbours became worried when they noticed his untouched newspaper outside his apartment the following day and called the police to break in to see if the elderly gentleman was in trouble. The police and fire departments thought the door was a painted wooden one and attempted to break their way in. Upon realising it was a steel

However, there are some aspects of high security doors that are standard, such as protections from rust and corrosion, various designs and finishes (most which require no maintenance), and the opportunity to choose locking mechanisms and the direction of swing. Some doors offer anti-lever cover plates, anti-crushing surfaces, anti-jimmy strips and reinforced steel edges to further enhance protection. With more than 65% of homeowners choosing entry doors made of steel, it makes sense for a business to consider them as well! Since every kind of steel security door can be accommodated by existing structures, even a business located in an old garage, carriage house, or condominium can take advantage of the protection it offers. Materials used in construction include galvanized or zintec steel. A few points to remember are that, when comparing types of steel, the stronger the steel, the lower the gauge number it carries. (Plus, the stronger it is, the more the steel will resist dents.) This number should be referred to as "true gauge" and not "nominal", since the latter means it's not quite at the rating it's carrying. In addition, hot-dip galvanizing appears to offer more protection against rust than electro-galvanizing, which may leave some areas

Due to wood having these defects it is a lot harder to control all of the different ways it can fail. So maintenance can be expensive. Also Steel does not break or shatter as it is the toughest material and is very hard wearing. Also Steel provides more sound insulation than timber due to the wood not being dense. Although a disadvantage of steel to timber is that timber construction is much quicker than building with steel.
When it concerns the security of your home or business, sound locks are the first line of defense. However, it is an unfortunate fact that there are many people that are not particularly well-educated about locks. As a result, they may not be aware of the answers to a couple of common questions concerning these components of their security systems. After learning these two answers, you will be better able to minimize some of the problems that your locks might encounter.

Annalee Allen Intro to News Writing Mr. Mike Stedham 6 March 2015 Jacob Riis In the 1890’s, there was much corruption and chaos when it came to how the underprivileged people of New York, New York lived. The tenements were in some of the poorest conditions and it seemed as though no one was willing to do anything to help these poor, unfortunate people. The government thought that it was of no concern of theirs since the wealthier people were in charge of these tenements. They did not want to be involved, since there were no laws or rules in place mandating that the government improve the housing conditions.
The United States of America is one of the most technologically and industrially advanced nations in the world, but that was not always the case. At the start of the Civil War in 1861 the United States was little more than a nation of farmers, but by the time the Spanish-American war began in 1898 the country was one of the most advanced nations in the world. This begs the question, what exactly enabled the United States to be able to industrialize so quickly and efficiently? The industrial growth in the United States of America during the late 1800’s was caused by entrepreneurs, an evolving population, and government assistance.
Famous entrepreneur and animator, Walt Disney, once said and lived by the following: “I don’t believe in playing down to children. Life is composed of lights and shadows, and we would be untruthful, insincere, and saccharine if we tried to pretend there were no shadows.” Similarly, Jeannette Walls’ memoir, The Glass Castle, expresses how individuals face the world and such experiences on their own, gaining wisdom, despite their age and an apathetic support system. Facing multiple adverse conditions, Rex and Rose Walls kept their family from amassing happiness, substantial wealth-- wasted in alcoholism, and precious time--in attempts to achieve personal goals that put their children’s successes aside. Yet however, the Walls parents never “treated
In the book, blink The Power of Thinking Without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwell, describes the “locked-door”, priming and the Warren Harding error. Throughout chapters two and three, Gladwell explains and gives examples as to why the “locked-door”, priming and the Warren Harding error can either be positive or negative. I believe that the “locked-door” and priming are in a way a symbol of how mysterious and complex our minds our. As a result, we have positive and negative consequences to priming and the “locked-door”. Gladwell talks about the side effect that “thin-slicing’’ has on people.
Our nation 's greatest and most obvious vulnerability remains our porous and unprotected southern land border. Yet every day, unknown numbers of human and drug smugglers, criminals and potential terrorists continue to illegally enter the United States through our border with Mexico. The exposure of our southern border demands that we take immediate action to implement the most effective enforcement mechanisms available. And while technology and manpower are an important part of this effort, the best and most effective method of preventing illegal foot and vehicle traffic from entering the United States is border security fencing.
1) Identify aspects of Jim Quintero’s management style according to the four main management theories (Classical, Behavioral, Systems, and Contingency). While most organizations can more than likely identify at least some aspects from each of the four management theories, Quintero’s steel company identifies most with the Behavioral Approach with aspects of the Systems and Contingency Approach blending together in my opinion. Not having much detail on Cool Steel Company’s (CSC) organizational structural it is difficult to determine how much management falls under the Classical Approach, but seeing there are managers (not first-level supervisors) and reviewing Henri Fayol’s general principals, one can assume a structure of sorts. There are several examples of the Behavioral Approach (e.g., trusting, respect, responsibility…) that will be covered in more detail in response to question number two. It is clear that CSC’s success would be in line with the practices described in the cooperative system outlined in the Systems Approach and by virtue of employees being given the ability or responsibility to make decisions; the Contingency Approach can be applied.
To overcome our adversaries in our life we must be patient to the end no matter what people make us believe. Even Though, John promised her that he will be back Steven, John’s friend manipulates her into thinking that her husband is not coming home due to the storm; leading her to cheat on her husband and also to her ultimate downfall. Despite Ann’s difficult time keeping loyal to John, Steven manipulations lead her into a path that ended badly for both Ann and John. Remaining loyal is important to keeping patient
Imagine you are an administrator for Hackensack High School. In 1-2 paragraphs, explain how you would individually approach an active shooter drill in Hackensack High School? How would you educate your student body and faculty on how to execute the drill? What would be different from the current drill? Use the article “9 Tips for the Most Effective Lockdowns” for assistance.

Furthermore, in order to grow fiscally, it was best for corporations to avoid paying for or adhering to safety precautions. For example, the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire of New York City in March 25, 1911, was a fire in which one hundred forty-six people died. The massive death count came from the lack of security precautions. For the company to keep a maximum amount of efficiency, workers wouldn’t be allowed breaks. To enforce this no-breaks rules, most doors in the building were locked, which trapped and killed most workers during the fire.
I shrugged. I 'd finally be useful for something then. I took another drag of the cigarette and reached into my purse. There was only one thing inside, and as soon as my fingers grasped around it I felt my heart begin pounding harder inside my chest. The hard metal was icy cold to the touch.
