In this modern computer and internet world we are spending too much time sitting. This is mainly affecting Office workers and students who, studies show are over five hours a day inactive and sedentary. This lifestyle can affect your health in the long term. Students must include some downtime in their schedules. Working steadily for hours can start by affecting your vision, your eyes, your head. While taking breaks just for a few minutes can refresh your mind and help you stay focused. Resting and sleeping is also very important, lack of sleep can cause a reduction in energy and can significantly affect your concentration which can lead to irritability and depression. Obesity is a preventable medical condition, as a matter of fact, adults who are trying to avoid obesity can participate in a physical activity that involves movement for about 15-30 minutes a day that is all it takes. Physical activities is not only good for adults but for children as well. This essay is to inform adults about their health, the cause of obesity and how it can be prevented. According to, The Burden of Obesity in North Carolina", "no physical activity and unhealthy eating combined are the second leading preventable cause of death",(p.6). In order to avoid stroke, cancer, diabetes and obesity,none has to be physically active and change their eating habits, if they are eating unhealthy.
Lack of sleep can cause short term effects like headaches or mood changes, but it can also contribute to more major issues like heart disease or high blood pressure. It can also impact memory and attention span, which causes problems with attending school. These effects can be extremely harmful and can put many students at risk of health problems. Her say starts off at 3pm with class, and she continued to work through the night and into the next day, “That afternoon she attended a parent-teacher conference, capping off more than 24 hours straight of work and school with no sleep.”

Children need to unwind after a long stressful period of time and doing this can only help. In addition, human need the most sleep in the first eighteen years of their life. In Peg Dawson’s article “More Proof Sleepy Teens Learn Less”, which was published in Education Digest (April 1, 2013) she states that, “Although research indicates that teens require at least as much sleep as they did as preteens (8.5 to 9.25 hours per night), under 15% of teens report that they sleep at least 8.5 hours on school nights, and over 25% report that they get less than 6.5 hours of sleep on school nights.” I don’t understand why school districts would want kids to test, do more work, and stay up late studying when they are fatigued, because students work efficiency plummets without a steady rest.
It also is important that when students look for jobs it fits their schedule throughout the day. Many students don't have a job because they are full time students. And sometimes these students become stress so much that they decide to drop-out school because they are going through a financial problem. And sometimes these students don’t have support from people that can be helpful in their lives. Sometimes students have to keep track of time in order for them to study in school, if not they’ll fall of place and start getting grades they don’t want.
They cannot concentrate, especially at school, with too much homework. A student’s mind should stay focused and calm. They should rest, if rest enough so that they can work with energy. The student should be given a certain amount of work so that they can be prepared if a test or an exam is near.
For the majority of students they have high expectations set up by parents and occasionally staff members from the school they are attending. Almost every single student in that situation has not only strived to meet those expectations, but they have also experienced the expectations from a young age. This is a very stressful situation for a student to be in. The stress of having to meet these very high set expectations leads to lack of sleep and a lack in performance. Students do have a tendency to try their best, but due to the little sleep they get their performance is not what one would expect.
9. Create Breaks Breaks are important in between tasks and learning. Breaks are experienced in places of work, worship, and schools. Breaks in between classes are very important. Walking around the class, stretching, or stop working for a while helps to relax and recompose a child (Kluth, 2010).
Currently, only 15% of this population gets the healthy amount of sleep on school nights. If we shortened the straight days of learning, students would lose stress on breaks, and wouldn’t have to spend three hours a night trying to finish homework. University students including myself time and again lay off sleep for other happenings such as studying, doing homework or even just staying up for the night with a friend. Through a biological clock called the Circadian rhythm, our bodies follow the twenty-four hour cycle of each day and night. Throughout the week, postponing sleep and missing meals makes it arduous to concentrate in class. After lunch, I tend to grow heavy-eyed and tired which leads to me struggling to focus on my other courses. In the afternoon, this impacts my body because it does not give me energy, but instead makes me snooze earlier in the day.

Students tend to stay up for homework due to the fact that they usually don 't’ have enough time. Not getting enough sleep will increase the development of poor health making students incapable of learning. “Some of the most serious potential problems associated with chronic sleep deprivation are high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attack, heart failure or stroke. Other potential problems include obesity, depression and lower sex drive” (Brain Team and Spine). Just by that, homework can ruin personal lives by taking what students need like enough sleep.

Once, the student begins his homework it is important that he takes breaks on occasion to keep himself awake and focused on the task at hand. All of these habits can be applied to a person’s future career. It is likely that many students will go on to have jobs that require them to put in time off the clock.
