Repetitive structures were built, such as arches and pillars, to create beautiful feats of geometric design. These buildings glorified the state and enriched the lives of Roman citizens.
“How did the Constitution Guard Against Tyranny” In 1787, the delegate decided to meet up in Philadelphia to write the Constitution. The Constitution decided to guard against tyranny in many different ways, which was the Federalism, Separation of Powers, Check and Balance, and Small and Large States. The first guard against tyranny was the Federalism, which was the Central and State Government. The reason Federalism is protected from tyranny is because they want to make sure that the state and national governments have power but not too much, where they can come to powerful (Document A)
The Alien act and Sedition Act were two major laws passed by the Federalist Congress in 1798. Both of them caused major social and rights conflicts within the colonies by jailing people who protested the government, deporting innocent immigrants and having no freedom of the press. The Alien act of 1798 allowed immigrants living in the US to be arrested or deported without trial if they were assumed to be dangerous, or in other words, pro french. It also affected the immigrants right to vote. Previously, Individuals were required to live in the US for at least five years before voting, now they had to live in the US for at least 14 years.
The United States of America took a risk when they passed the 4 bills on the Alien and Sedition acts of 1798. During 1798, the United States of America was on the verge of declaring war against France. Taking the ideas and giving the bills to John Adams to pass them, the Federalist-controlled congress wanted to strengthen national security during undeclared war. The Alien and Sedition Acts were passed to get ready for anticipated war. The government limited the freedom of speech citizens had and tightened restrictions on foreign-born Americans.
1798 was a time in American when foreigners were a big topic of debate. In that year the Alien and Sedition Act was passed, prohibiting any kind of malicious or disreputable writings from foreigners that went against the government. Because of this, many credible politicians took action to give their views and opinions on the matter. Two of the politicians were Timothy Pickering and James Madison. Both not only having two different views on the act, but also, having two varying rhetorical strategies.
The Alien and Sedition Acts were a series of laws that were passed in 1798 by the Federalist Congress and then were signed into law by President John Adams. These laws made it harder for immigrants to vote and also included powers that were new to deport foreigners. Before this law was passed, an immigrant had to live in the United States for 5 years before being able to vote, but the law changed it from 5 years to 14 years. The Federalists saw as a threat to American security. One Federalist said that there was “no need to invite hordes of Wild Irishmen, nor the turbulent and disorderly of all the world, to come here with a basic view to distract our tranquility,” even though the non-English people have been supporters of the Democratic-Republicans
The Reign of Terror In September 1793 to July 1794, the Reign of Terror killed over 40,000 people in France using the guillotine a machine that made it a simple way to execute a mass amount of people. The Reign of Terror was led by no other than , Robespierre. He was trying to form a new government but instead caused thousands of people to be massacred. Ultimately, The Reign of Terror in France was not justified because the threats did not require it, the methods were too extreme and It did not support the ideals of the revolution.

The Alien and Sedition Act started off in the year of 1798 when the 2nd president of the United States , John Adams signed it so he would put things into place. The alien and sedition act happened because the federalist saw foreigners as threats in the way they would take over land without paying taxes. Immigrants were coming into the United States and the governments people did not like that because they figured it would take up land and they wouldn't want to pay and it would also be hard to communicate with them because of the different language they spoke. They then came up with the alien sedition act , this act was to be able to deport all illegal immigrants without residence papers.
Throughout history there have always been people who wanted to take law and justice in their own hands. The first, so called, vigilantes can be found in the bible, but the most relevant cases of vigilantism happened way later and emerged as a frontier response to the threat and reality of crime. The first of many more incidents to come is set in the backwoods of South Carolina in 1767. 'The Regulators ', as they called themselves, made a two-year campaign to suppress banditry that successfully reestablished law and order.
In times of fear and hysteria in the U.S. it is mass chaos and it only gets worse and worse. During the time of both the witch-hunt eras, whether for communist or actual witches, they prove to have many similarities between them. Both of these times were full of confusion and lying which lead to the temporary downfall of the authority at that time. Joseph McCarthy proved to be a factor in this time and add on to the chaos that was America. Arthur Miller wrote about these times in a book called The Crucible, based on the witch trial era.
The abolitionists were responsible reformers due to the vast majority of them utilizing non-violent tactics to fight the institution of slavery. This included helping slaves escape through the Underground Railroad and broadcasting anti-slavery speeches and writing to the public. The Fugitive Slave laws, numerous other laws, and the government were not on their side, yet they were morally justified and protected by their freedom of the press and speech. This was seen when William Lloyd Garrison, using these rights that African Americans were not afforded, published a popular and far reaching abolitionist newspaper titled The Liberator to speak for the repressed.
