Team Excellence and Collaborative leader
The Team excellence self assessment was somewhat difficult as many of the question are geared more to the function of the team rather than my leadership abilities. I based my assessment on my function as Medical Director with regard to the overall organization as well as the leadership team. Overall our leadership team is relatively cohesive, considering the medical group has changed ownership within the last year. We are currently in the process of defining goals and meeting with providers in our local and regional markets on a regular basis to gain collaboration. Our parent organization, has been actively involved in helping to establish better collaborative leadership. As we are moving

I maintain trust and respect with those with whom I work. I am dedicated to my work, our vision and goals, and the people with whom I work. Interestingly, I also score high the management by exception, which would seem to be in contrast to idealized influence. I do tend to allow things that are running well to run as they are. I believe in the old adage, “If it aint broke, dont fix it.” This dichotomy of my life has been summarized by my with as she has said, That I am “easy to please but hard to impress.” When individuals are performing as expected, I find this acceptable. I personally live my life to a much higher standard than most individuals. I have learned not to force that standard on others. I do try to influence and motivate other to a higher standard, but realize that a job well done is acceptable. I don't believe in contingent rewards and score lowe in this are but got a 0 on Laissez Faire. I scored intermediate on the remaining factors. In review of these areas, I have a reasonable mix of attribute for leadership. I am weak in the area of true vision casting at work. Personally I am a man of vision. At church and in youth and mission work, I am always pushing to do better. As a physician, I have weather many transition in administration and have learned to press on and do my work. I have fought for change and quality patient care as president of the medical staff and chief of surgery, only to …show more content…
Character, competence and complataoboleit. I scored well in all three areas. The highest being areas of competence. I have been fairly education in Christian teaching and have made it a point to read and study on various area. As II Timothy 2:15 says, Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. I have taught on many theological area and have a firm grasp of the scripture. That being said, there is still much to learn and I feel we can always grow in these areas. With regard to character, I generally score high as well. One of my biggest flass is this areas is a lack of patience and grace. These are areas, I have worked on for years and will continue to work on, Being a very driven person, I often lack patient with others and need to be more gracious. As Paul reminds of in Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. I continue to look to Christ as my example and try to daily live a life that is Spirit filled and christ centered. The compatibility assessment was very interesting. Right now I am probably experiencing more tension in this area with regard to our church. While the theology of our church is biblical, the practice and function is a bit disconcerting, our church is a young non denominational church. We suffered the
My strongest attribute is being able to work well in a team and taking lead if needs be. I am very confident in speaking, presenting and asking/answering questions in lectures.
The strengths that were identified this time taking the assessment were all characteristics that I strongly identify with. The most recent assessment showed that my strengths are, in order, Futuristic, Context, Relator, Restorative, and Analytical. This is in comparison to my 2014 results of Includer, Harmony, Consistency, Relator, and Analytical. My 2014 results were much more reflective of someone in the relationship building domain, something that I would actually consider myself only competent at, if not a weakness of mine. I am solid in those aspects, but thought that it overestimated my capabilities
The one theme that did surprise me was the result, restorative. After reading the explanation as to why I received this as strength, I agree restorative can be considered a strength of mine and I would never have considered this a strength before this assessment. I am not surprised I got received learner, achiever, and focus. I believe all of these strengths are required when working in the nursing healthcare field.
According to the StrengthsFinder survey, my top five signature strengths/themes are: Ideation, Adaptability, Deliberative, Activator, and Command (StrengthsFinder, 2015). Admittedly, the level of accuracy in which the survey was able to identify some of my traits was surprising. However, these are traits I have been aware of and developed over the years from childhood to present day, but have not had them in such a format that adds context. The survey results were right about me taking one day at a time – I do not worrying about things such as legacy, long term career goals, and what people think of me – Adaptability.
My weaknesses include procrastinating on subjects that I am not fond of and spending too much of my time on subjects I am fond of. For example, I found my Psychology courses to be riveting; more often than not would I spend time reading my textbook while flipping through pages. However, I found Economics to be a bore and would leave those assignments until the end. In turn, critical thinking and English are my strengths. Analyzing literary works, characters, and author’s purpose would get me the best marks, for I would view everything as a complex framework with many
I hold myself accountable and maintain high standards in my work. I have excelled as an employee
MALM Learning Outcome 4 – Philosophy of Leadership – Converging Pathways My philosophy of leadership is simple: Leadership is not about elevation to power, it’s about submission to duty. My duty is to do that which God has designed and intended me to do while I journey this earth. Every leadership role I pursue, which are becoming many, biblical teachings are integrated and are more often than not well received. Leadership is leading by example with honesty, integrity and clarity.
Leaders possess different strengths that allow them to succeed in their career or life. The Clifton Strengths Finder Assessment helped identify my top strengths and how to lead with my strengths in order to further develop them. My top five strengths were competition, positivity, winning others over (WOO), harmony, and achiever. Based on the meaning of each strength, I related to all them, however, I was surprised by some of them.
All three scores were relatively high and increased in the order of: motivation (20 point), knowledge (23 point), and skill (27 point). Having motivation as the lowest score was a real eye opener, as I always thought of myself to be a motivated person. I know that I have the knowledge and skill to be a good communicator, but I still need to be more motivated. Perhaps, the biggest aspect that effects my motivation is my deficiency of confidence. When talking to people, I am always tense about making mistakes and saying the wrong thing, which has a dramatic effect on my confidence.
1. In three areas that received the highest mean score what skills, strategies, or leadership practices did you observe in your composite principal that helped them be successful? I am a very conservative person; therefore, all of my scores were 3s or 4s. The composite principal would have had to have been exemplary in the category for me to give them a 5, of which I gave none. However, I did feel that the composite principal was strong in the majority of these areas.
On the Skill Profile Report test I learned the skills and weaknesses I have along with the top 22 careers categories that suit me according to my skill sets. Because of this assessment I learned that I have high active learning skills, along with high system evaluation, and equipment selection. I also became aware of some of the skills that I lack. I learned that some some of the skills that I could improve in are my speaking, instructing, decision making, programming and time management skills. I was actually really surprised that I have high active learning skills.
Promote a positive work environment for staff that actively engages staff in personal accountability and open communication. I believe it’s important to work for an organization that fosters mutual respect, integrity, diversity, innovation, patient advocacy, education and shared governance. The patient should always be the primary focus and any opportunity to
Leadership Thought Prior to 1900 The earliest study of leadership thought would be the “Great Man Theory. This theory conceptualized leaders as a single “Great Man” who knew everything and influenced others to follow him. In leadership discourse, the Great Man theory—an assertion that certain individuals, certain men, are gifts from God placed on earth to provide the lightening needed to uplift human existence—is associated mainly with Thomas Carlyle (Spector, 2015, p.250). The focal-point of this theory is that leaders’ skills are inherent and set that them apart from those around them and that these traits enable them to assume roles of power and authority.
I am sincere, intelligent, hardworking and success oriented. Being intelligent doesn’t mean you are the only person in the room who can turn any impossible thing into possible but it means you can think logically on your feet and you are practical. Being hardworking and sincere run side by side, if a person is sincere in their work, they will definitely work with all their commitment and be also very
I am the type of person who always wants to please everyone else, I rarely ever even think about pleasing myself. I am trying my best to worry less about pleasing everyone, and worrying about what other people think about me. I have so much more to worry about than the opinion of someone, who has no effect on who I am. I am not afraid of much, I am more afraid of failure more than anything else. I am not scared of success itself, but I am afraid of what I will have to go through to be able to become successful.
