Self-development impact I will use the feedback received in the Enneagram report as a guideline for my future self-development. The typical Thinking, Action and Feeling Patterns made me aware of some pitfalls that I must be aware of and can handle some situations in a different ways. The blind spots of the Ennea 7 are useful to avoid situations where quick assumptions can lead to misunderstandings. I will also concentrate fully on what people is saying and not jump to conclusions. By better planning I can avoid the Ennea 7 stress point 1, the Reformer’s negative side by become cynical and hypercritical, think in black and white and become low-level irritated. The security point 5, the Investigator is wholesome and makes me quite and objective. …show more content…

SCI411 Academic and personal development Portfolio: Part 1 From not being in education for a few years, being able to recognise my own academic skills, strengths and weaknesses was quite difficult. However, over these first couple of weeks in lectures my learning strengths and weaknesses have made themselves apparent. Whilst filling out the questionnaire Skills Self-Assessment Audit (Theeducators, 2013) it took a lot of understanding of the questions to be able to answer honestly, and my lowest scores reflected this in the personal effectiveness category. Skill strengths
By taking this into consideration I improved greatly and make conscious decisions. I also took the course on Conover.
I’m a hard-working and motivated person, because I believe that with enough practice anyone can be good at anything. As someone who is born in a collective culture, I’m harmonious and I actively seek to promote harmony and peace in groups and individuals. Because of my harmonious nature, I try to be friendly and kind to people, especially to those that feel left out. Therefore, I’m able to get along well with people while working in groups. In addition, I’m self-critical, therefore, I’m good at knowing my weaknesses and what I’m lacking.
On planet earth, there are more than seven billion people. Each of these people are different in their own unique way. A person's personality defines them the most as a person. These traits dictate how we live our life and how other people get to know us as a person. The three adjectives my friends use to describe me are competitive, active and happy.

It is also key to be aware what we are or are not capable of in our work. It is important to continue to grow and develop personally and professionally. This is an ongoing process throughout our lives. According to Day, Halpin & Zaccaro, 2004, (cited by Share & Lalor, 2009, p123) for ‘self-development to occur, a person needs to become aware of his/her internal processes {thoughts, feelings, moods, beliefs and actions} and have an awareness of how these internal processes impact on others as an external process’. Self-awareness and self-development work hand in hand with one another, as do personal and professional development.
1.2 Overview of Self-Awareness When self-awareness is used, it means to what extent people are aware of their thinking pattern, traits, feelings and behavior (Brown, 2012). Fletcher and Bailey (2003) state that it is possible to preview at our own self-assessment and assessment made by other people in relation to self-awareness for instance, the scope of which we can exactly recognise how others observe us. In the same way, Yammarino and Atwater (1997) identify self-awareness as an adeptness of an individual to view own performance related to a specific criteria and then, evaluate others assessment of the individual and monitor precisely linking the two consequences. Fletcher and Bailey (2003) states the relationship between self-awareness and performance is significant when assessing self-awareness and further presents
For my Personal Developmental Autobiography, I choose to talk about my journey through the adolescence developmental stage. The Adolescence Developmental Stage is a transitional stage of physical and psychological development that generally occurs during the period from puberty to legal adulthood. During this stage so many things happen. Puberty has already happened or is about to happen. Being interested in the opposite sex and going on dates happen.
In a research by Martin et al. (2003), the development and validation of the Humor Styles Questionnaire was described. The Humor Styles Questionnaire assessed the four dimensions relating to individual differences in the use of humor, namely, affiliative, self-enhancing, aggressive and self-defeating humor. The researchers were of the opinion that in order to study the relationship between humor and psychological health, it is very important to examine the ways in which humor is used by individuals in their daily lives. One of the primary aims of the investigation was to study how an individual’s tendency to use humor as a coping strategy was related to different humor styles.
My Self-Concept My self-concept includes a number of different adjectives and roles, these include both good and bad things. The adjectives I use to describe myself are as follows: kind, loyal, selfish, hard working, apathetic, practical, honest, occasionally rude, and procrastinator. As for the roles that I fill, I am a son, a brother, a friend, a student, the oldest son, and a teacher. Self-concept is a product of many things, it is not just simply what a person is.
Most people want to improve themselves in some way, whether it is to lose weight or give up smoking or increase their confidence. Self-improvement is something that we carry out over a life time, but it is a task that can require a lot of motivation. Keeping your motivation levels up and steady can be a job in itself. In order to achieve the motivation required for self-improvement, we need to look at the three keys that will help us succeed in our goals. 1) INSPIRATION
For my grammar summary from Grammar Moves: Shaping Who You Are, I read chapter fourteen. This chapter is about past tense. I chose to read this chapter because I feel like past, present, and future tense can easily be a confusing topic and I wanted to be able to properly tell which tense is which. I was also curious about the why past tense was referred to as “grammar for being forgiving” (Finn and Weinstein 79). I also want to be able to write different tenses when I need to.
After reviewing my Future Me letter, it was encouraging to see how much I grew in general. From my work in essays and responses and how I felt mentally from where I was when I wrote this letter. I have felt a growth in these past few months. I came into the semester unsure of my critical thinking and unable to get deeper into the subject feeling like I hit a wall with my chisel that is dull and unable to chip away the wall. After the feedback from Cynthia for my responses and essays, I have more confidence in skills as I convinced myself that I was a better storyteller than an essay writer.
