Since AYP is solely based on the results of standardized testing, it encourages teachers to only teach a handful of basic skills rather than creating a detailed and in-depth understanding of the curriculum. For example, if basic math questions are asked on a standardized test, the student will only be taught basic math skills. There is a high chance that those students would not be able to complete a word problem involving math because they were not taught how to recall mathematic strategies and how to implement them to solve a problem. One last issue that resulted from this program was the fact that, as they were the core for No Child
I was the youngest in the class because of how smart I was. I was younger than everyone else in the class because I was more ahead of them. I got straight A’s in school and my teachers always praised me on how smart I was until I got to my Fourth grade teacher who told me I would never make it. This teacher made me feel bad for who I was and would kick me out for not focusing on her work or for “Disrupting” her class. When I went to the doctor who diagnosed me for what I really had I was diagnosed with Severe ADHD which means my brain works very fast and makes it so I don't stay focused on one thing.
it is better to ask for help then let stress affect me and my performance in classes. and counseling does really help because I was talking to someone new and they do not know anything about me and talking to a stranger did help me figure out what was wrong with me because I have to tell everything from the beginning and with new different opinion I was able to get over my stress. The eighth thing I learned is to always keep with me a small calendar to write everything down for example, and appointment, test date, assignment due date, etc. That way I would be more organized and get everything down by it due date. and that having only cell phone to write important appointment is not enough.
I have never been one of those kids who fancied education from a tender age. I loved playing around and having fun with friends. My first day in school was among the worst days of my life. To me, I felt like my parents did not want me around them and so they had to shove in one of the daycares around. I had no option but to get used to the new environment and people as well.
I would have helped if I could,” she said concerned about me. “you were a very good student what happened?” I did not know what to say so I cried and told her the truth. That every time I sit for a test I end up failing it because I do not study enough. She comforted me telling me that I can do better next term but I ended up with the same grades as the previous term. Thus, my mother decided that I will change my school the next year so for me to transfer I had to really work hard in the last term, term 3, so I can get accepted as an 11th grader.
My second semester of school I decided that because I already knew where I was going to college I didn’t have to try as hard in school and work as hard for my grades as I had before. I began slacking off inside as well as outside of the classroom. I stopped doing homework to my best ability’s, stopped studying for tests, and worst of all I was lying to my mother. For almost four months I treated my mother poorly. I constantly lied to her face about how my grades were.
At times I felt as if I was being bullied for having such a concern for my academics or no one understood why I was studying for the SAT on a summer night. Due to this lack of emotional support from my family, this independent disposition was formed in order for me to achieve the goals I wanted throughout high school. Fastforwarding to the end of my junior year of highschool, I am very familiar with myself and my limits. My natural abilities in math and science that were so prominent at an early point in my life initiated my interest in engineering. The field of engineering is quite vast with dozens of subdivisions that utilize different levels of thinking and overall interests.
Every summer i’d take many courses to advance and exceed in my classes, my parents having some knowledge about high school believed at one point that I had taken a summer course to make up a failing class due to the fact of how my older brother struggled during his years. Not being able to do much during the summer also limited my time to having fun and doing what I liked. Community service hours were never mentioned to me until my sophomore year surprisingly and I had a plethora of hours piled up to my normal schedule, up until now I have been able to do most of those hours but if I were told sooner I’d be done by now. Experiences with my community have also opened up connections to work-related material and internships for the near future. I’ve been living in Atwater for at least more than six years and am surprised with all the time I’d been here, I now know much about the area I raised
After I was out of school for around a month after my ACL surgery it was hard to catch up but It was not impossible. I didn 't try enough because I already thought my grade was too far gone and that rolled over into the next semester. After the school year I was very disappointed in myself. I never have failed a class in my life but here I was applying for summer school. So I redirected my disappointment and decided to excel at summer school.
This is something that everyone must show as it is a “process success criterion”. Two examples will be displayed. They will be modelled by the teacher, but he will try to obtain as much information as possible from the students. As asserted by Holton and Clarke (2006), conceptual scaffolding should be provided in order to move students through ZPD. By the time the model questions have been completed, the scaffolding will almost be completely removed and the students will be working independently.
Early the next day, Mrs. Peterson met with Rolland’s other teachers and they also agreed that Rolland did not belong at that school. Thus, hey devised a study plan for him to follow and implemented it immediately. While his classmates received third grade material, he received the special subjects necessary to prepare him for the upcoming assessment test. Rolland kept his promise, studied hard, and read all the books his teachers gave him. He completed all the assignments and turned in all his homework.
The only thing they are responsible for is the genes that made the child born with those traits. The writer for The NY Times Magazine based most of her research on Michael and his family. Their family is a prime example that ineffective parenting is not the cause. His parents noticed that Michael had behavior problems since he was three years old and from then until present had done everything in their power to get him the help he needed. His mother actually had a degree in child psychology so she was frustrated that everything she learned and tried would not work with Michael.
The acquisitive Spanish explorer of the New World wanted to get as much of the gold and silver from the New World as possible. Kate arrogated herself to take on the duties of the team captain of her swim even though it was Mara’s job. Although she has her Masters degree in English, her banal speech left me with the impression she hadn’t left elementary school. The girl belabored making each strand of hair look meticulous, which caused her to almost miss the school bus because she worked on it for 3 hours. The carping teacher always found a negative to every student’s research paper even if it deserved a 100.
The first day of college was different for me since it started during the summer. My writing skills in the beginning of the class weren 't as strong as they are now. I knew college would be a much more difficult than high school because there would be a larger work load. The diagnostic essay was the first essay I wrote in college. I was really worried about the results I would get on a college level.
