Statement of the Problem In the prevailing history of library literature there are number of studies dealing with college and university libraries but there is scanty of literature related to studies exploring school libraries. Keeping in view this gap in library literature, the present study seems to be a necessary attempt intended to explore senior secondary School libraries in Government and Private sector in Delhi state which is the capital of India. There are thousands of schools in Delhi but the study will cover only 10 Govt. SSSL and 10 Private SSSL. The topic of the study is related to the exploration of use of school libraries. Therefore, it is a comparative study of SSSL in both Govt. and private schools. As it is obvious from the very topic, the present study has taken into fold the study and analysis of the existing Library and Information Services in the ten State Government as Well as ten Private schools under the control of the Government of N.C.T. Delhi and affiliated by CBSE with a view to determining the problems being faced by these schools in rendering Library and Information services to their cliental i.e. Students, Teachers and other staff. On the basis of the find out facts, ways and means for providing still better library and information services to users of school library have been suggested. Limitation of the topic to State Government Senior Secondary School and Private school libraries in N.C.T. of Delhi has a couple of valid reasons.
