Robert gave a clear visualization of what he went through, I could only imagine how it felt fighting for our country. The story gave me a cleared understanding of what happening during 2001 and the years following. I knew about what happened to the World Trade centers but, I didn't know much about the wars and fighting that happened. It really showed what men and women go through everyday to fight for our country. This book shows so much respect to these people.
In the accounts of the unit’s Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Tom Kunk, was not seen as a great leader if one at all by the accounts of his subordinates. A memorial service was held for Three soldiers
All in all, I significantly enjoyed this book, Lockdown, by Gordon Smith. This book is by far the most thrilling and horrific book I have ever read. I enjoyed this book so greatly, because of how well Gordon Smith explained certain aspects of his writing with great emotion and detail. Another feature I liked about this book was how intense it was, and how while reading, I was on the edge of my seat and wanting to read more. Also, throughout the book, I enjoyed the characters that take place in this story.
I choose to read the book, Across Five Aprils. It is an intense book that took place during the Civil War, while President Lincoln was in control. It starts with a boy named Jethro Creighton, who is the protagonist. At the beginning of the war Jethro thinks its going to be a demonstrative patriotism. At soon as it started his three brothers, his cousin, and a teacher of his go off to fight.
The book keeps you on your toes because when think they are going to escape something happens and the rebels find them once again. I honestly could not put this book down and it was an easy read and would recommend this
This book would tell the story these brave men's heroism. I knew a lot about the Battle off Samar before I read this book however; I learned a lot more about it reading this book. I only expected the book to retell how the battle went however, I was pleasantly surprised to find out it had
But when duty called and they saw that someone needed to protect the fallen bird, they volunteered. Even though the zone was extremely hot and death was almost guaranteed, they did not hesitate. The many soldiers in Black Hawk Down committed great deeds of valor with no hesitation and only the ultimate goal of “get the guy next to you home alive” in
On September 11th, 2001 a series of deadly attacks were committed against the United States by the terrorist organization of Al-Qaeda. Terrorists from the group hijacked four planes and planned to destroy the targeted areas of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and some theorize the last plane was set on course to the White House. However, this final plane did not crash into its intended target, but was brought down in Pennsylvania when passengers retaliated. The events of September 11th resulted in 2,996 fatalities and 6,000 people injured. As a response to this, the United States government passed the Authorization for Use of Military Force which granted the President the right to use all "necessary and appropriate force" against those
When I first started reading it, I thought that it was going to be really boring because it was about history. But as I got further along in the book, I realized that it was not just a typical history book. Michael Shaara had written the book in a way so that it was easy for us to experience the American Civil War with the soldiers on the field. The different sections of the book were written so that it was from each individual’s point of view, which I found quite interesting. Michael Shaara approached this book in a different manner and I think it really did the book some justice.
The 9/11 memorial has only been open for five year so it is surprising that it is so popular. Over 300,000 people have already visited the 9/11 memorial. It’s making a lots of money because the cheapest tickets are $24 and the cheapest tour is $39, and that is per person. Also on the webpage you are able to donate. The reason it is so expensive is because they need to keep it open, and the rest of the money goes the the other buildings they are building.
I still feel their loss. I still ache for my failure to protect them.” He had an elevated level of selflessness, and this desire to help his comrades literally saved
The iconic World Trade Center was located in downtown Manhattan. 110 stories high looking over the city. “More than 10,000 workers were involved in building the World Trade Center complex.” (World Trade Center) It was a dream come true for American citizens, 200,000 people visited these iconic towers daily.
The attacks of September 11, 2001 on our country was one of the most tragic and deadly days in our history. It brought a country together and the American strength of freedom and unity became a battle cry. After the dust had cleared, the questions came about that asked, how could this have happened? Were there not security and intelligence infrastructures and policies in place?
“Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.” George W. Bush delivered this speech on the night of the September 11 attacks. The shattered steel of the Twin Towers, once towering the New York City skyline, forever changed America and its response to terrorism. The largest foreign attack on U.S. soil appropriately gave reason to Americans to recoil in fear and lose trust in the future, but in reality, the country displayed the opposite reaction.
