Sequoyah Reflection 1 When I become a teacher, there will be many types of data I will have to consider before I plan my lessons in order for my students to be academically successful. One piece of data I will need to collect will be my students’ modalities. All children have unique learning styles. Students benefit greatly when teachers know how to create a lesson that lets a student use his or her strength. Another important piece of data that I should use to create my lesson are Lexile scores. Lexile scores are important for every content area because reading is a part of every subject. The intersection of diverse student backgrounds and active learning needs a comfortable, positive environment in which to take root. Teachers were also going to test with using narratives as an instructional approach. Māori and Pasifka cultures have used this approach before and research supported that these style can help students remember content. Teachers also wanted to incorporate student collaboration (Conner, 2013). These solutions will benefit all students because the teachers will be incorporating all cultures into their lesson plans. Student collaboration will also benefit all students because they can bounce ideas off with one another.
I will give them the knowledge and guidance to ensure their success in their education and future. I want to challenge my students and give them the tools to succeed, not only in my class but in their lives. I understand that not all students learn the same way or at the same speed, but I will do everything in my power to provide them with the knowledge and the tools to succeed. I will take into consideration that my students have diverse needs and I will assist each one of them to meet those needs. I will learn about all of my students’ cultural backgrounds so that I can create lesson plans that will meet their needs.

If one of these is not available, there will be no teaching and learning process, though the learning process itself may still take place, they are: (1) Teacher, (2) Students, (3) Material and (4) Context of time and place.
