It is frightening having to conduct a study on certain people that have been bad to society. The reason for saying that is because there are certain studies that have committed horrible crimes where there were many deaths involved. Some of the studies I am referring to are serial killers and terrorists. I believe that individuals that have committed many terrible crimes will not have the ability to reason with anyone, because they believe their actions to be normal or that were meant to happen. When it comes to terrorists committing crimes the American Psychological Association says that they commit those crimes, because they “feel angry, alienated or disenfranchised, believe that their current political involvement does not give them

Infamous serial killers like Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, and H.H. Holmes have unique characteristics that largely contribute to how they carry out their crimes. Charm is a attribute these men share and used throughout their history as criminals and serial killers. Bundy used his charm and wit to seduce women he would then kill. Holmes used his charm to get away with his many forms of fraud and to also seduce women he would later kill. Charles Manson was a very charming and influential man, who used these qualities to gain followers who would later murder for him.
Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer (/ˈdɑːmər/; May 21, 1960 – November 28, 1994), also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster, was an American serial killer and sex offender who killed and dismembered seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991.[4] Many of his later murders involved necrophilia,[5] cannibalism, and the permanent preservation of body parts—typically all or part of the skeleton.[6] Although he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder,[7] schizotypal personality disorder,[8] and a psychotic disorder, Dahmer was found to be legally sane at his trial. He was convicted of fifteen of the sixteen homicides he had committed in Wisconsin and was sentenced to fifteen terms of life imprisonment on February 17, 1992.[9] Dahmer was later sentenced to a sixteenth term of life imprisonment for an additional homicide committed in Ohio in 1978.

Charles Manson was the leader of a cult group called the Manson Family which caught national attention when the group killed actress Sharon Tate and six other people. It is a universal fact that Manson and Dahmer were not mentally stable.

Many investigators have found examples of mass killers emulating their choices from media. Media has had a huge impact on today 's society, but the statements of media are having a connection with mass shooting that have been proven false. Mass shootings occur for various of reasons, but as many believe the main problem is "copycatting". The FBI and other threat assessments experts have found evidence that shows that plotters have looked at past attacks both for operational details or inspiration from the executioner. On the other hand, several mass shooters desire fame in comments and manifestos, making media have a huge connection with mass shooting.
The aforementioned article describes the debate occurring regarding the Texas massacre and the gun violence associated with it. 26 people were killed in the shooting, however the perpetrator himself soon became one of the many victims of a fatal gunshot wound and soon killed himself after being chased down. The population seems to have reached a divide where they are unsure whether this adds to or takes away from the constitution of the right to own guns. President Donald Trump claimed that the act was the work of a disabled man and that if Devin Patrick Kelley, the perpetrator, had not been shot, there would have been many more casualties. Meanwhile, those who oppose the second amendment persist in using this situation to dispute gun rights,
Throughout the years, people have visually examined mass murders and wondered at how an individual or a group of individuals could take the lives of another immensely large group of people. Society often mistake mass murders to its close cognation with serial murder and spree killers. The terminology “mass murder” was acclimated around 1980 to establish an individual or group of individuals who kill many (three and more) at once. Some types of mass murders committed by individuals are Disciple Killers, Family Annihilators, and Disgruntled Employees. However, it is not only individuals that consummate mass murder.
In 1983, tamper resistant labels were required on goods such as nonprescription medications. Those seals allow people to safely take pills as they insure no outside forces have tampered with them. The event leading up to the introduction of the seals were far more deadly than one could imagine. In 1982, several people died from taking poisoned capsules of Tylenol. James W. Lewis and Ted Kaczynski are two suspects surrounding the mysterious Tylenol murders in 1982.

The Monitor on Psychology article “What makes good people do bad things?” by Melissa Dittmann analyzes the results of the Stanford Prison Experiment conducted by Stanford psychology professor Phillip Zimbardo in 1971 and discusses what the experiment can tell us about human nature and what causes humans to be evil. In the novel “Lord of the Flies” the author William Golding discusses the effects of the theories mentioned in the article by creating his own fictional experiment with children stranded on an island during a nuclear war. Throughout his novel Golding explores the focus of Dittmann’s article; that environments and situations can bring out the evil that is inside all of us. People can act good or bad depending on their environment, and these actions are not entirely their fault because when people are not held accountable for their actions their more violent natures are revealed.
Criteria: Describe the criteria for a serial killer and what did the person do to qualify as a serial killer? A serial killer is a person who murders three or more people. The murders take place within a certain period of time and takes a break (cooling off period) between murders. The FBI believe it’s two or more murders which are done as separate events, and may be done with a second offender.
The behavior of serial killers is an interesting topic for me, I grew up watching many different crime-related shows and have been curious how the mind of a serial killer works. More specifically, I am interested in how the media affects them. Some serial killers throughout history have taken a liking to being talked about on the news, some even try to pander to the media. Serial killers like the "Zodiac Killer" were known for creating ciphers and puzzles for the public to solve, assuming it would lead them to a clue as to how to find him or one of his victims. With all these murderers making it a point to get attention from the media, I wonder if it encourages them to kill again.
That being said the type of people under study will be those of a psychopathic or sociopathic trend. Seeing as how these people do not feel any guilt or remorse their methods of manipulation are very rough and usually cause
A suicide attack is a form of terrorism, in which the attacker anticipates their death when harming their target. Suicide attacks have grown exponentially in numbers since its primary use in the 1980s, with attacks in the year 2016 totaling to 469 attacks, which resulted in 5,650 deaths (Schweitzer, et al. 2017). The rise has been attributed to social influence and poor conditions of the persons, but research and psychoanalytical studies tell a different story. In 1982, at the Israeli army’s Tyre Headquarters, a suicide bombing was carried out by the Islamic resistance group, Hezbollah.
