Service Academy Importance

The United States Air Force Academy strongly emphasizes character. Cadets must follow various honor codes, rules, and standards that deal with honesty, respect, integrity, and service just to name a few. This is one of the major reasons that I have developed a desire to attend this service academy. Throughout my life, I have been raised by my parents, as well as my church, to have good character values.
First of all, I place a great emphasis on service. God mentions helping others in the Bible multiple times, and I consider this crucial. Because of this, I have made it a part of my daily life. Sometimes it is as simple as talking to someone, while other times I must travel to poverty-stricken areas or volunteer my time to work at homeless shelters.

The bar has been lowered in today’s society when it comes to this subject. Manners are no longer commonplace, and disrespectfulness is rampant. I have taken this moral seriously, which is a strong reason for my desire to attend the United States Air Force Academy. Cadets must show obedience and manners at all times, or there are consequences.
Lastly, I believe that lying is a sin. Because of this, I have remained honest throughout my life. This is a good moral to have in general, but especially when having the desire to attend a service academy. The United States Air Force Academy honor code states “We will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does.” This would not be a difficult request, because I have developed a habit of being honest.
In short, I would not only abide by the morals and values of the United States Air Force Academy, but I would enjoy them. I would consistently show respect, honesty, integrity, and service in addition to many other traits. It angers me that character is disappearing in today’s society, and I strive to be a positive example. Although an individual might possess academic, athletic, and leadership qualities, they are not successful until they have developed a good
