What is even more shocking being the number of women to this day that gets abused. "This ‘one in five’ statistic shouldn’t just be taken with a grain of salt but the entire shaker," said James Fox, professor of criminology, law and public policy at Northeastern University (Washington Post, 2014) The ‘one in five’ statistic he is speaking about is one in five women get sexually harassed in college (Obama, 2014). An issue I am passionate about is… …feminism. I believe that there is a common misconception, particularly by men, that once voting rights for women were established, feminism was no longer necessary. Unfortunately though, that is definitely not the case. Women still make less money than men for the same jobs, sexual assault cases are way too frequent, and women are underrepresented in almost every professional field.
Both the article Oppression by Marilyn Frye and the article Feminism is for everybody that includes men by Katherine Fritz both talk about the way women are demoralized by society on what society assumes about the person not what they know about the individual. That just because a woman dresses sexy does not mean she is sexually easy or deserves to be called derogatory names or harassed or worse raped. There should also not be one set of rules for men and another set for women. If a man has multiple sexual partners, he is labeled a stud and if a woman has the same number of sexual partners, she is labeled a whore or slut. Society attaches labels to us since birth, which is where female oppression starts.

Which in some of the cases they believe it and don’t report it at the moment and when they report it to the police and to the company it’s too hard to get evidence. Like in the case of one of the janitors, she reported what happened to her too

However, history has shown that people have overlooked it. One of the most
