There is nothing really unique about the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Mission Statement. It does define the company’s overall goal, but it is a vague definition and does not have a clear purpose that would be distinguishable from any other Shakespeare festival. Although it is very concise, the statement lacks any kind of excitement. There is nothing in the statement that would make me choose to work or go there other than the appeal of Shakespearian theatre. They use the statement “… shaped by the diversity of our American culture…” but what does that actually mean? They never explain how they plan to be diverse, “…[creating] fresh and bold interpretations of classic and contemporary plays…” is pretty much the goal of most non-profit theatres,
