The colonists were so angered by these taxes because they had no say on it. In The Declaration of Independence there was these things called The List of Grievances. The List of Grievances was all the complaints of the colonists into one document. It covered the law where British soldiers were put in the homes of the colonists, also known as the Quartering Acts. The King even took it as far as making people go to England to be tried instead of in the colonies.
On December 26, 1786 Daniel Shays and the rebels revolted in Springfield, Massachusetts insisting that the state legislature address their issues, such as lack of money. However, Massachusetts shut down their rebellion by calling in their militia. The main cause of this nearly six month rebellion was money. The Massachusetts legislature voted on a heavy land tax. Farmers could not afford to pay these taxes.
The Sons of Liberty club sprang up to oppose the tax, so they burned the stamps and drove out all the stamp collectors. The Boston Sons of Liberty, headed by Sam Adams, was one of the most uncontrollable patriots in the country. Townshend Acts: •Named after the Chancellor Charles Townshend became the birth of six new laws. The motivation for these acts was to use the money to pay the salaries of governors and judges so that they would stay loyal to Great Britain. Mainly so that the governors and judges would punish the province of New York for failing to obey the Quartering Act.
As of recently, there have been reports of an increase in taxes to pay off debts in Massachusetts. A huge number of individuals who couldn 't pay these taxes are farmers, and they ended up finding themselves going to court, then to prison. This issue had led to the start of the Shay 's Rebellion, which was a fight for change between the farmers and the legislatures. I believe that the farmers were making the right decision to oppose the government because of the unfair laws that were placed. The farmers had experienced so much, and taxes had affected them profoundly to the point where they wanted to overthrow the government in control.
There was riots that couldn’t be contained, rapid debt build up, and the nation of the whole was barely standing. Abraham Lincoln emancipated the slaves because he felt he had to, also the south had just seceded the union, and emancipating the slaves was one of the only ways he could keep the union from falling apart.
So some of them, they called themselves ‘Sons of Liberty’, were making messes everywhere. The most famous event of those is the Boston Tea Party. After the Boston Tea Party, Britain added the Intolerable Acts that means that deprived the citizens’ power and British soldiers could search citizens’ house. This act infuriated all colonists and makes them together to against the government. The first clash was in Lexington and this clash was the start of the Revolution of Independence.
Immigration reform is one of the most contentious issues in America today, provoking angry debates in Congress, fueling tension in town hall meetings across the country, and even dividing families. In 2007, as the battle over immigration reform played out in Congress, Tom Selders, the Republican mayor of Greeley, Colorado, put a local face on the issue. Selders spoke out on Capitol Hill about the devastating effect of an immigration raid at a Greeley meatpacking plant and urged Congress to enact comprehensive immigration reform. As a result, he faced a backlash of criticism at home. Selders knew his public stance on immigration was politically risky, particularly since he was seeking reelection in the upcoming mayoral race.
the peasants suffered due to high revenue demands and strict revenue collection policy and this led to a general discontentment grew rapidly and strongly among the indian soldiers as most of them came from peasant families. the adverse effects of the industrial revolution was also being felt due to the British economic policies in India that worked against the interests of indian trade and industry. the indian handicrafts completely collapsed and the craftsmen were also impoverished, as a result the British had drained india of her wealth and all of her natural resources. the resumption of tax free land and confiscation of jagirs caused discontent among the jagirdars and zamindars and Lord William Bentinck had also attached several jagirs in Bengal thus resuming the tax free lands. hence it caused widespread resentment not only among the landed aristocracy but also caused great destruction to a larger section of the middle-class people.
Different segments of the Iranian society clearly suffered from plethora of issues the Shah had created for them. He made new land reforms and taxation which created problems for the peasants and merchants, the educated citizens of the society suffered from unemployment and lack of freedom, the Islamic scholars from their general loss of influence over the people. He westernized Iran which made many people believe they were getting far away from Islamic Principles. After years of pent up anger the people started to revolt against the shah. Iranians organized with the help of the religious establishment to overthrow the Shah and completely reform the Iranian political system.
The French Indian War was one of the main reasons the British Empire fell into an economic crisis. Tensions between England and its Colonies in America started growing. Many taxes were put on the colonies along with restrictions which led to the colonists to rebel against the Empire. England needed to support the war in the New World by spending money for troops and supplies for 7 years. After the end of the war, England fell into a debt.
In my opinion I think that both sides were at fault, but ultimately it was the fault of the British soldiers. The Townshend acts was a series of acts passed down by the Parliament of Great Britain. However, the colonist did not agree with the acts because it raised revenues in order to pay for government officials. The colonist began a riot, thus resulting in the importation of British troops within Boston. The Boston Massacre happened on March 5th, 1770.
The British were in massive debt following the French and Indian war, therefore they placed taxes on the colonists in order to regenerate some of that money lost. The Sugar Act of 1764 taxed the sale of molasses in hopes to gain some lost money, but this act led the people of Boston to boycott the molasses industry. The Stamp Act of 1765 shortly followed, making colonists buy a stamp with every paper product. The rage the colonists felt over the passing of this act, led the colonies to begin to unify as they together boycotted the trade industry. The Townshend Duties of 1767 imposed taxes on glass, lead, paint, paper and tea, but this only led to the colonist to again boycott the trade of those items and start newspaper attack.
