One lesson I have learned about family is small towns bring you closer together. All my immediate family lives in Schenectady. Being so close to them has made Schenectady like a second home to me. Some of the fondest memories of my childhood include sleeping over my aunts apartment, walking to the park at the school near her, and running outside to catch the ice cream truck. Having family so close by and being from a place where the town and city basically overlap has caused me to form tight bonds with my family members. Something else I have learned is to always surround yourself with positive people. The people who constantly complain about living in Rotterdam are the worst. Yes, we all know it is awful but being constantly reminded about …show more content…
Whether it’s getting food, watching netflix, or going on long drives these are the moments that count. There is never anything to do in Rotterdam so who you choose to surround yourself with is important. A final lesson I have learned is about place. It doesn’t matter where you’re from. You can be from the richest town ever or the poorest city but I can promise you no one cares, at least the important people won’t care. Rotterdam is not the nicest place to live. I have met people from a few towns over and their impression of me based on where I’m from isn’t a good one. I have one partiular memory where this stands out to me. I was a huge runner in highschool and after one particular race I was accused of pulling another girls ponytail. My coaches talked to me about it and race officials, I was accused of something I never did. Later on I was in the bathroom and I heard other girls talking about me and my team. I will never forget the harsh words that left their mouth including “They’re scum from Schenectady anyways.” The girl who accused me came in 2 places behind me and was most likely bitter about me finishing before her. This was a huge upset to

The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the very first fight of colonists against the British. The first shot of the battle was fired by the British according to the accounts of John Parker and Thomas Fessenden. As John Parke states, the first shot was fired by the British because they were colonists and they were not going to attack first unless they were fired upon first. John states that they fired at them and killed eight of their men. This account is reliable because it is an official testimony, he wouldn 't lie under oath.
The Confederate army in Murfreesboro was commanded by Gen. Braxton Bragg. Bragg had just returned from invading Kentucky before he arrived in Murfreesboro. In Kentucky, he had commanded the Army of Mississippi, and then he was joined my Maj. Gen. Kirby Smith’s army. This new combined army of around 38,000 was renamed the Army of Tennessee. Just like the Union General Buell, Bragg was cautious about engaging the Union troops and decided passivity was wise.
Valley Forge was a base winter camp located next to Pennsylvania. George Washington helped out and taught the soldiers how to use guns and fight battles. I am going to leave Valley Forge because the quality of this camp is horrible. (DOC A) There was a very high percentage of soldiers who died of illness because they did not cure any illnesses.
Going to school in Copenhagen was wonderful but I really enjoyed living with my host family as well. Copenhagen is a city that puts more emphasis on pedestrians than cars. My host father was chief
Bridgewater, Va. – The Treasury Department announced on Wednesday April 20th, abolitionist, and anti-slavery activist Harriet Tubman is to replace the 7th president of the United States, Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill. This is a mark in history because she will not only be the first African-American to appear on United States paper currency, but also the first woman in over a century. The original plan was to have a woman replace founding father Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill. But that plan was revoked according to Jacob Lew, the Treasury Secretary, when the Pulitzer Prize winning Broadway musical portraying Hamilton’s life gained a lot of support, as reported by USA Today.

Many of the Native Americans accused the British soldiers of being responsible for the outbreak. There is suspension that Jeffery Amherst, the British commander in chief, knew of smallpox infected blankets being given to Natives by the end of June. William Trent is also credited with writing an account of the event in his diary.

If I was in Valley Forge, I would stay and train there. There are very harsh conditions at Valley Forge. I would stay through that to test myself and see how tough I am to see if I can last the conditions. I also want to be known as someone who fought the conditions and trained for war for testing at Valley Forge. I also want people to notice my skills and endurance as a fighter.
The neighborhood of Lincolnville was established after the Civil War by freed slaves and, is in the oldest city in America, St. Augustine. The settlement was first called Little Africa, however, when the streets were paved in 1878 the community became known as Lincolnville in honor of Abraham Lincoln (1). The Lincolnville District is St. Augustine 's most well-known black neighborhood and has been a part of many important events in not only African American history, but also St. Augustine’s and America. Reston, Virginia: Gateway to Excitement I prefer to live in Reston, Virginia, rather than Sterling, Virginia, because I can ride the metro. There are two stores like Banana Republic and BeBe, where I like to go to shop. One of the reasons I want to live in Reston is because there are attractions like ice skating and a water fountain. It is open to the public every season and is beautiful.
