In 1772,one more event occurred which cause trouble between the colonists and great Britain, Lieutenant William Duddington(the ship Gaspee) crew members will board the ship and expropriate(smuggling)packages. The shipowners will lose all there $$ and goods then hurt the merchants they have traded.
The sugar act in 1764 made British laws charge on the sugar by the other products that were charge.1751-1764 the stamp and quartering act was in 1765, stamp act was required certain printed materials and the quartering act was forced to feed and shelter the British Soldiers. When the British started taxing them and throwing their tea away the Americans got tired of the British controlling them so they fought back. When the Continental Congress Philadelphia, reject Franklin and Thomas votes to form a Continental Army. Americans were in the war for 6 years fighting for what they wanted the first battle was Lexington and Concord in Massachusetts. This battle was considered as the gun the shot heard around the world 1768 and had been augmented
The Sugar Act taxed imports such as sugarcane and molasses. This made the colonists angry because they didn’t have any say or representation to oppose this act. The second event was the Stamp Act of 1766. The Stamp Act taxed things such as stamps, paper, newspapers,
Before Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River, before the shots “heard around the world” at Lexington and Concord, came the first ironic act of American Rebellion, dumping imported tea into Boston Harbor to protest a system of parliamentary taxation that British colonists in America considered to be illegal (Bush). This famed act of American colonial defiance served as a protest against taxation. Seeking to boost the troubled East India Company, British Parliament adjusted import duties with the passage of the Tea Act in 1773. On the night of December 16, 1773, Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty boarded three ships in the Boston harbor and threw 342 chests of tea overboard.
Finally the Townshend Acts in 1767 that taxed all imported goods. All of these laws and Acts made the colonists boycott, so they didn’t buy any imported goods or trade with Britain. Boston Massacre On March 5, 1770, the colonists had enough of the soldiers standing there with guns ready to shoot any colonist that ticked them off so they started to make fun of and mock the soldiers and in all the chaos a soldier was shoved and accidentally shot a colonist, so in fear of the moment another soldier shot more colonists, and the colonist used this as propaganda against the soldiers.
Just one small action ignited one of the most largest turn of events in American history. In the month of October 1768, a group of red suited British officers were stationed in the town of Boston, Massachusetts due to the rioting after the vessel “Liberty” was seized from trade violations (Foner 185). The British Government had been trying to increase taxes and control over the American colony. On March 5th, 1770 the colonists couldn’t take it anymore, they wanted the troops out. A mob of angry American colonists made advances on the British troops and Capt.
As had occurred before in reaction to enforcement of unpopular acts, a mob formed to prevent the ship’s seizure. Boycotts of British goods were put back into place much as they had been to oppose the Stamp Act (Ernst, 2012). An escalation that was new was the request by customs officials for British troops to occupy Boston, and the dissolution of the legislature in Boston by the Governor for their refusal to rescind their previously approved circular letter (Middlekauff, 2005
The French and Indian War erupted in catastrophe and ruined the British and the colonists' relationship because of all the debt that the colonists took on for the British's war. The first thing that made their relationship start to break was when the loyalists were put into a huge debt after the French and Indian War. This itself resulted in many taxes and acts for the colonists. The loyalists established eight polices in the hopes of gaining money and power. The first act initiated was the Proclamation of 1763 witch forbade any settlement of the colonists west of the Appalachian mountains.
Woolen Act: passed in 1699, colonies had to buy wool from England only; protests attempted by using other material instead of wool but did little to bring change . Dominion of New England: James II dispatched a governor (Andros) to enforce the laws in New England but ultimately failed; important because Britain tried to intervene in colonial affairs as early as the seventeenth century . Salutary Neglect: Britain did not act much towards colonists in the time leading up until the Seven Years’ War; time of culture among the colonists diverging away from that of Britain and colonies had to create government among themselves for the most part . Bacon’s Rebellion: poor Virginians wanted land on Native AMerican territory because all the good land had already been taken; Nathaniel Bacon went against the order of Governor William Berkeley and attacked the Native Americans and then
However, in 1773, the East India Company noticed that there was an overproduction of tea and its prices surely would decline (“The Third Imperial Crisis”). Tea was one of the, if not the, most valuable asset to many members in Parliament. Britain was forced to impose a new Tea tax on the colonists, which was aimed to keep the price of tea high. Even this act was reasonable in the eyes of the British, but to the colonists, this was just a British way of assuring dominance considering it was now for profit rather than to pay off debts. The response to the Tea Acts was the Boston Tea Party of 1773 (“The Third Imperial Crisis”).
The Boston Tea Party was a violent, courageous, and an eventful act that took place in 1997 because of constant disputes. It started to become a large issue when the British and English colonist constantly disagreed about the unfair taxes that were charged from the British. The colonists didn’t agree to the taxes at all the the government officials formed a plan. The British put such a hefty tax on the tea because they realized the demand was so outrageously high, and they could make a much larger profit off of it. Colonists did not want to pay the huge taxes, so they started buying/smuggling tea from East India, but the British wanted to have the colonists to buy tea from them because of the taxes.
Imports of lead, glass, paper, paint, and tea were taxed; the British government wanted the colonists to pay so they created punishments for colonists who
“I thought it would be a safe steamship,” said Margaret Devaney, a passenger on the famous Royal Mail Ship known as the Titanic (The Titanic). Now most know the fate of the British passenger liner. On April 14, 1912, upon its maiden voyage, what was thought to be ‘unsinkable’ collided with an iceberg and sank into the Atlantic Ocean (The Crew of the RMS Titanic). It was a tragedy that could not be seen until it was too late. However, the RMS Titanic was a record-breaking goliath of her age.
Titanic “The one of 3 sister ships was the Titanic, the beginning meaning of the Titanic and her sister ships Olympic and Britannic were built to compete with the ocean liners Lusitania and Mauretania.” (Titanic Passengers) Cunard White Star Line owned the ships, which had made the decision not to attempt to compete on speed but to build the ship larger, more trustable and more luxurious than the others they were competing against. After three long years of building the Titanic, the ship was finished and ready to set sail in the Atlantic Ocean on the maiden voyage from Southampton to New York.
