This semester I have read a total of one book, a thrilling story set on the coast of medieval Japan, called Shipwrecks, by Akira Yoshimua. My reading goal for the semester was to read two books; I didn't quite meet the goal I set for myself. I started off the semester with a 1200+ page SAT Test Preparation book. I realized at about the turn of the first quarter that I could no longer go about trying to read it, it was terribly boring. Therefore, I began to read Shipwrecks and surprisingly easily got into it. I find it difficult for myself to get into a book, but I certainly enjoyed this read. This book wasn't very challenging for me at all, if anything it was on the easy side. For the most part I only have been reading during the time we receive in class, except for about the …show more content…
I am very glad that I switched my book in the middle of the semester, if I hadn't I most likely would have missed out on this great story. This author has written a few other books that look pretty interesting, one in particular called “On Parole” that I might try to read for second semester. I certainly enjoyed the time we have in class to read, I benefit from it tremendously. Not only is it a time to just take a step back from the day and have a few minutes to relax, but also that is where I do most of my reading, because I don't read at home very often. Second semester I am going to come out strong and this time I will read two books. I could absolutely do it if I started reading at home more. Therefore, one of my goals for this upcoming semester is to start reading regularly at home. Also, I want to start being able to read faster, I am a fairly slow reader, I can read fast, but when I do that I am more likely to miss what I just read completely. All and all I think it was a pretty favorable semester for me in terms of
I took the book to work with me and read there on my breaks. I simply could not put it down. Which is also what I saw from other people that have read this book. I would without a doubt recommend this book to anyone that needed a story to read for a class because the story is exciting and they would enjoy doing this assignment. Not only would I recommend it for a student’s book report, but i would recommend this book to anyone just looking for some leisurely reading.
I was also connected to the text more listening to her and how she tries to match her family experience to the family in the book. I noticed that she was very passionate about Japanese Internment camps, this made me want to strive to be passionate about the book as much as
I began with an endless list of books I wanted to read as soon as possible, and I had incorporated a portion of my day dedicated to reading. Even before the school year started I always enjoyed reading, but now I find it difficult to open a book; not because I do not enjoy it, but because I have prioritized that time for other things. As I am reflecting on this now, I have become disappointed in myself that I am drifting away from one of my favorite and beneficial hobbies. I believe this change is a result of discouragement due to my excitement for the summer and the school year coming to an end. Furthermore, for the last few months I have become more stressed with my AP World History Exam, the second semester finals, and track coming to an end, leading to me pushing away the things I enjoy most.
This book was interesting for me because it allowed me to relate to a character. I love reading novels that not only allow me to feel a connection with a character, but allow me to relate to their personality or
It really made me want to read from it and actually learn more about what the author went through. Students will enjoy this book! So teachers, teach from this amazing book, They will love
‘ I’ll admit that while I do a lot of reading, books are not really my format of choice. In fact, the last time I read a book cover to cover was over ten years ago. So you can imagine my surprise when after I began to read the book yesterday afternoon, I wasn’t able to stop for long before diving back into it. I finished it earlier today, devouring all 384 pages in nearly one sitting
Granted the book were extremely good from what I can remember. But It was anthing compared to harry potter and twilight, or any other book that my peer were reading. When it came time to starderd test like the EOG, I was given extra time, I had some one actual read my test to me. The Next big step for me in my reading happened in 7th grade when I found a new book series to read.
When I first started reading it, I thought that it was going to be really boring because it was about history. But as I got further along in the book, I realized that it was not just a typical history book. Michael Shaara had written the book in a way so that it was easy for us to experience the American Civil War with the soldiers on the field. The different sections of the book were written so that it was from each individual’s point of view, which I found quite interesting. Michael Shaara approached this book in a different manner and I think it really did the book some justice.
This book also showed me that people face hardships every day and live through them without you even noticing. In other words, there is usually way more to a person than what you see. I would rate this book 4.5/5
Like when Janina and Misha were hiding from the Jackboots, I never wanted to stop reading so I could find out what happened. Overall, this book was great and it taught me alot about what people were feeling throughout this horrible
Lastly, I liked this book because it gave me an insight of what my life could be like when I get to college. About halfway through the book I was questioning what the author was trying to portray. Honestly, I did not fully figure it out until the end of the book. Towards the beginning I thought that maybe it was going to be about him helping a very shy kid come into the light.
and I had no idea what it was about just based off of the title. It was an easy read, and I enjoyed reading it at the same time. It always had you curious as to what will happen and how everything will play out. Through the whole book, it keeps you curious as to if he will get convicted or not and you do not find out until the very end. The only downside is that I did not like the way it was written.
Also, the story is stimulus, you will really engage into the book but I won't recommend reading it at night because I am scared of the "monster"
So, imagine my pleasant surprise that I felt after reading the novel. I liked it because the cheesiness was kept to a minimum, but also, I enjoyed how different characters narrated different sections so we could get a full picture of everything that was going
I have understood the material more as I studied out of the text book. This has also helped me take effective notes. With this most recent score on my exam I had a push to keep going and
