What is road safety?
Road safety is basically ways and measures to improve the safety on the road, which is used to protect and lower the risk of people being seriously injured and killed on roads. Physics plays a huge role in road safety. Seatbelts, Airbags and crumple zones are all made and designed using physics. These are some of the features that are used to make driving on the road safer for everyone.
Seatbelts:
Seatbelts are essential to wear while driving a vehicle all the time. Seatbelts are belts, which are used to protect/ secure all the people sitting in the vehicle’s seat. They are used in almost every single vehicle e.g. cars, planes, buses, trucks etc. Seatbelts were discovered/ invented in the year 1959 by a Swedish car company called Volvo . An airbag is really cheap to make and to insert into the cars since they are only made out of soft cushion, which costs a minimal amount even though it’s a really important feature in the car. In the incident of a car crash or an accident the airbag which is made out of cushion rapidly comes out of the dashboard or under the steering wheel before you reach the steering wheel and when you go into a cushion you don’t feel much but when you go into hard rubber and glass you can get seriously injured or even death depending on how serious the impact was. The treatment or the attempt of treating the patient is extremely expensive in a hospital and then you have to buy medication etc, which will end up costing you a lot of money if you don’t have the airbag feature in your car.
