Self-confidence is an inner feeling of absolute certainty towards oneself and one's own ability. Successful people know that in order to be successful, we must first be confident of our own ability. It starts with our spirit, and this feeling is then projected into our mind. It is the state of believing in oneself; what we have to offer and what we are capable of accomplishing. It is therefore no secret then that having self-confidence is very important to achieving success in any area of our life. But what is self-confidence? It is nothing but a state of mind. It is the mindset that will shape our attitude, and this attitude is something that can be learned. By learning to consciously cultivate these attitudes, we can learn to have self-confidence.…show more content…
Courage will help us build our self-confidence because it deals with facing our fear. Normally, lack of self-confidence is caused by the overwhelming feeling of fear, especially fear of the unknown. These fears are closely associated with the fear of failure, ridicule, rejection, disrespect and the likes which are usually unfounded once the event(s) is over. Our ability to function properly and effectively will be affected and hindered when these irrational fears are not confronted and overcome. We all have a certain level of self-confidence. Our self-confidence can fluctuate up and down. This feeling will be reflected in many different areas and period in our life. It depends on the daily challenges and our own ability to deal with those challenges. Our confidence may be manifested in certain areas, but may be lacking in others. However our feeling of self-confidence and high self-worth can be mistaken as arrogance on our part. Arrogant people do appear self-assured and self-confident. The truth be told, arrogant people actually lack self-confidence. They use arrogance to compensate for their lack of
