The paleo diet minimizes the intake of processed foods and places one in the position to eat fresh food that reflect the diet of our hunter-gather ancestors from the Paleolithic era (Dr Michelle, 24 October 2016). This would mean that one would eat clean and avoid foods with additives, preservatives, or chemicals. During the paleo diet, there are anti-inflammatory benefits from the plant nutrients in fruits, vegetables, oils, nuts, and seeds (WRITTEN BY: SPORTS MEDICINE,Saturday, April 2nd, 2016). This was due to the diet impacting gut bacteria, which changes bugs living in the bowels.

Michael Pollan summarizes what we should eat in his book IN DEFENSE OF FOOD. There are many “edible food like substances in the supermarket” (1) indicates his disagreement how people consume processed food from supermarket. So, he advises people to eat whole fresh food and avoid the treated food. “Lots of processed foods and meats…makes people sick and fat” (10). When I was eleven I watched a few clips I found on YouTube about animal cruelty and how the animals we eat are raised and later slaughtered. The first video I watched was about how pigs are raised so close together that they can’t move and then knowingly killed in a slow painful slaughter of slitting its throat and letting the animal bleed out. This to me as a child was absolutely horrific and I decided right then that I would become a vegetarian. My road with vegetarianism lasted about 3 days until I was eating some fast food and I could not resist the orange chicken that was an option in front of me.
Another thing that non-vegans think about veganism is, “why do vegans always look ill?” This is a very controversial topic because people don’t think vegans are healthy.
