Freshmen year was a rude awakening of what I was getting myself into. Coach Smolder was the toughest coach I have ever had. Our first day of practice we had to run 66, 40 yard sprints and I did all that just to start kickoff return on a 7-3 playoff football team, but I was the only freshmen to start. Sophomore year came around and it was a great learning experience because I started offensive line and played over ¾ of the game at defensive end which was weird because I’ve always played middle linebacker. I suppose everyone was in a sophomore slump because that year we were mediocre, going 5-5, but I was the only sophomore to play and I even picked up a fumble and ran it in for a 43 yard touchdown, it was our best game if the year.
Soon the free boys would come tripping along on all sorts of delicious expeditions, and they would make a world of fun of him for having to work—the very thought of it burnt him like fire. He got out his worldly wealth and examined it—bits of toys, marbles, and trash; enough to buy an exchange of WORK, maybe, but not half enough to buy so much as half an hour of pure freedom. So he returned his straitened means to his pocket, and gave up the idea of trying to buy the boys. At this dark and hopeless moment an inspiration burst upon him!
Tom Brady has dominated in the NFL ever since he has been drafted. When you look at Tom Brady’s career stats, you won’t see any season that really pops out. This is because every season was a monster season. Well, not in 2008 because he was injured, but other than that, he is a very elite
Just took ‘em, I know where he keeps everything… I don’t expect ever to have that much money all at once” (Bristow 163) and ultimately save Jimmy’s life where he could have been furious with Darren for taking his money especially during a time of crisis but instead he generously puts Jimmy’s needs above his own. Also, when Darren’s character is first described it is said “Since he wrote a good hand, his cousin Godfrey had given him a job keeping records” (Bristow 10) Since Darren’s mother and father died and left no money for him Godfrey had taken him under his wing and provided Darren a job with good pay so he can live a normal life. Godfrey through allowing money to be taken from him and giving his cousin a job he shows a great amount of kindness not found in many people. Gwen Bristow strategically uses Godfrey to show the reader how living an altruistic lifestyle can not only help you carry on through hard times but it gives friends the push forward. This is fantastically shown when he keeps a low profile by tricking his friends into thinking that he is allied with the British, puts himself in danger of the British by delivering messages to help the cause of the revolution, and giving Darren a job.
Well, throughout the book Moon Shadow and Windrider showed excellent examples of how to deal with discrimination. At the beginning of the book Moon Shadow had just met the Company. Towards the night, a few drunk Americans decided to throw rocks through the Company's window. Father and the rest of the company didn't react to the incident. Others may argue that it is wrong to let the drunk Americans carry on with their ways and harass
In her personal narrative, Bonnie Jo Campbell describes to her readers the time she sold manure the summer after school let out. At first, Campbell was embarrassed to deliver manure; however, over time, she began to realize selling manure was beneficial for both her and the customer, and quite fulfilling as well. Campbell (1996) states, “Within about a week, however, I began to see the absurdity of our situation as liberating” (p. 30). She begun to understand that selling manure was an honest vocation as opposed to her first thoughts. Not only is manure delivering effectual, but also are the other countless overlooked jobs often seen as low class citizen jobs.

Think of your favorite sport and imagine a game where one team was losing (the most recent Super Bowl springs to mind) and managed to overcome a large deficit to take the win. Momentum sparks confidence, so despite being on the losing end, a spark of momentum reinforces the idea that they may be down, but they’re certainly not out. That confidence then carries the team through the rest of the game, and sparks the comeback. We’ve seen it time and time again, and it probably has happened to you personally. Have you ever felt under the gun as you worked to meet a deadline?
Newsies takes place in New York City and follows the life of charismatic leader Jack Kelley who dreams of a life in Santa Fe, New Mexico and wants to go away from the hardship of the streets. Jack Kelley and his band of boys sell newspapers for a living, but when Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst (publishers of newspapers) increase their newspaper prices from 50 cents to 60 cents, the boys find a cause to fight for and rally for what is right. I remember finding out a year later that Newsies was an actual event in History as I sat in one of my Communication classes, bewilderment spreading across my face. Walking into the Pantages theater, felt like I had just stepped into the 1920’s and totally got that Great Gatsby vibe. Walking into the theater I notice refreshments all around.
They do not develop a strong relationship with him before he ultimately dies, though, because they saved his life, a small relationship does develop. In Sparks’ novel, when he knows he will die soon, Ira calls his lawyer and sets up an art auction, inviting not only art critics and collectors from around the world, but also Luke and Sophia. This surprised me, as a reader, because Sparks does not show much of a relationship between the pair and Ira after they rescue him; although it may be assumed he invited them because they saved his life and learned his story through the letter they found in the destroyed car. In the movie, Luke and Sophia find Ira as they return from their first date, at the beginning of the movie. After Luke pulls Ira out of his burning truck, he mumbles one word: “box”, leading Sophia into the burning car to retrieve what she learns is a box of letters.
