Balram the Betrayer Laxmangarh – Although it is already five years ago since the landlords punished them for the deeds of their son, but many of you will still remember the Halwai family. A family of sweetmakers and with the most beautiful water buffalo of Laxmangarh. Now, five years later, we found their son who caused the immense unrest in our village, Balram Halwai, who is now living under the alias of Ashok Sharma. We found him in Bangalore where he is one of the greatest entrepreneurs of the city, with his own successful taxi company. Our journalists got possession of several letters which Balram was trying to send to the Chinese prime minister, to whom he told his own “justified” version of the family’s story.

Then, when he finally became the first servant, by betraying the former first driver, he had to go to Delhi with Mr Ashok, his wife and the Mongoose. He only did this to be able to drive the most beautiful and expansive car the Stork owned, the Honda City. In this enormous city he drove Mr Ashok and his wife around, from their home to the shopping mall and back. This, as you will have guessed, provided Balram with a great deal of money. Did this go to his family? No. He stopped sending money to his lovely grandmother …show more content…
He still does while writing the letters to the Chinese premier. He tries to convince everyone that his master’s wife, Pinky Madam, was driving the car when this happened. Does he really think anyone will believe this?
As you can understand, Balram was treated very well as the first servant of Mr Ashok and his American wife. The question is, what drove him to kill his master, who never did anything wrong to him? The only thing Balram cared about was money, and by cutting his master’s throat Balram got his greatest desire; money. With this money he was able to run off to Bangalore to start his taxi company. Of course this was not the only goal of the money. Money also is the perfect method to bribe the police, and this is what Balram did, twice.
Immediately following the horrible news of the loss of their son, the Stork and his family came back to our little village and terrorized the house of the Halwai family. You might think this is terrible, but wouldn’t you have done the same? All of this happened, because Balram Halwai wanted to break free from his master, and have all the money he could ever wish. The biggest betrayer that our town has ever known, Balram Halwai. Let him know that he won’t be welcome to come back to our village ever again, to honour our fallen friends of the Halwai family and of course the son of our landlord, Mr
(1) Although Adoniram seems to freak out at the end of the story, young Sammy clearly is the character that undergoes the greatest change. (2) Near the beginning of the story, Sammy clearly demonstrates his father’s traits of keeping to himself and of disregarding the women in the family. (3) After Adoniram’s plan to build a new barn is discovered by Sarah and Nanny, they discuss the situation. (4) Sammy is present at this point in time, but “he did not seem to pay any attention to the conversation” (Freeman). (5) While Adoniram’s plan to build a new barn is not discovered by Sarah and Nanny until men start digging a cellar for it, Sammy finally reveals that he did know about the plan for about three months.

“It's hard to tell who has your back, from who has it long enough just to stab you in it...” ― Nicole Richie. In the play Julius Caesar by Shakespeare, Brutus is a traitor because of his lack of integrity and loyalty to his country and dear friend. One’s integrity represents their true character, and disloyalty shows lack of trust and allegiance.
How can a person be arrogant and insecure at the same time? In Edmund Rostand’s comedic tragedy, Cyrano de Bergerac, Cyrano is a tragic hero based on the characteristics of having a tragic flaw, a result of his downfall, and him coming to self-knowledge by the end of the play. Cyrano fights many obstacles in the book internally and externally before he arrives at his final destination of acceptance. Ultimately, Cyrano will be proven to be a tragic hero by more closely examining his character.

Brutus’s Downfall In The “Tragedy of Julius Caesar” by William Shakespeare Marcus Brutus is the main character. “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar” is set in the ancient Roman Republic on the eve of the assassination of Julius Caesar. The play, Julius Caesar, is about a group of Roman senators who believe the only way to preserve the Roman Republic is to assassinate Caesar and to prevent an emperor from taking control of Rome and destroying the democracy of Rome. The play starts when Caesar returns from victory over the First Triumvirate and Shakespeare introduces the major characters of the play.
Initially, after reading the story, I was confused on whether or not Brutus counted as a betrayer or a patriot and it seemed almost impossible to find out, but as I thought more on it, I discovered he had limited time before Caesar was officially crowned so he had limited options. However, I believe Brutus was a patriot because instead of joining the conspiracy right away when he is offered the chance by Cassius, he refuses because he does not think Caesar deserves something so harsh. Once Cassius plants the fake notes from Rome Brutus decides to kill Caesar because he doesn’t want the people becoming Caesars slaves. So instead of wanting to kill Caesar out of jealousy like Cassius, he just wanted to kill him in order for him not to turn the people of Rome into slaves. Brutus may also seem like a traitor because he chooses to die rather than be captured and
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said that, “envy is ignorance; imitation is suicide.” (370). John Knowles’ A Separate Peace is set during World War I at Devon School, a boarding school for boys. The book centers on Gene Forrester, a student at Devon, who could be described as an intelligent, but jealous, conformist. A Separate Peace illustrates Gene’s envy and imitation of his friend, Finny, and how it affects himself and his relationship with Finny, and also how Gene eventually finds peace.
A. The murder victim Mr. Hossack was a man of great wealth and respect. Mr. Hossack was a very prominent farmer in his home town just outside of Medford. John was a man who had many friends at little enemies. There wasn’t anybody who didn’t like john or that didn’t get along with him.
“I have in the past overly trusted people and was, in turn, let down by some. Since then, I have learned the difference between putting faith into people and blindly trusting them” This is a quote by Do Won Chang that partially relates to Marcus Brutus in the play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar written by William Shakespeare. The play begins and Brutus is tricked into joining the conspiracy. The conspiracy is a group of people who are willing to go against, Julius Caesar, the next ruler of Rome. They want Brutus to join them because Brutus is a good friend of Caesar, and they could kill Caesar easier with the help of Brutus.
May 1914, the eve of World War One, a Japanese steamship by the name of Komagata Maru, arrived in Vancouver after leaving Hong Kong in early April. On board were 376 passengers, most of whom were Sikh migrants, and some who had served in the British army during World War One. When the Komagata Maru arrived in Canada, it was confronted with officials, police, and the military at the port of Vancouver, which was not the welcome they were hoping for. Gurdit Singh, a passenger on the boat, spoke to officials and press saying, “we are all British citizens and we consider we have a right to visit any part of the empire”(Johnston, voyage of Komagata Maru). The ship was not allowed to dock.
During the story, Balram’s murder of Ashok can be considered immoral since it leads to the death of his family and is a treachery to his master. In the fifth night, Balram states in his letter to Mr. Jian Bao, a Chinese Premier, that he is “trapped in the Rooster Coop” (Adiga, 151). The Rooster Coop is Balram’s metaphor for describing the oppression of poor people, especially servants, who
However, growing up, he was exposed into a lot of corruption and immoral behavior, e.g., the shopkeeper selling his employees' votes to the Great Socialist during election time. His childhood molded the person he was going to become in the future. Balram ends up doing anything to get himself into a higher caste and into the Light. Balram becomes very selfish. His actions might be justified from the standpoint that anything since he was part of the losing crowd he might as well join the crowd that is winning, also known as By blackmailing Ram Persad, the other driver, Balram is promoted and drives Ashok and Pinky to their new home.
