Film, "High Noon" and story, "The Most Dangerous Game", have a lot of similarities in characters and theme but very different in setting. In the story "The Most Dangerous Game" a sailor name Rainsford gets trapped on an isolated island and he has to survive there for three days. In the film "High Noon" a retired officer name Will had to go back to his job to save his town from four criminals that were coming back to get revenge. Even though both film and story are different they also have a lot of similarities in characters and theme. Referring to the theme of our story and the film, they are very similar.
In Richard Connell’s short story “The Most Dangerous Game”, Rainsford’s mindset on hunting changes throughout the story as he begins to understand fear of the hunted. In the beginning of the story, the protagonist Rainsford shows no empathy towards the animals he has slayed, even going as far as saying, “Who cares how a jaguar feels?” (14). Convinced that hunting is the finest sport in the world, Rainsford casually disregards any thought about an animal’s feelings, believing that they are simple-minded creatures unable to understand basic emotion. However, as the story progresses, Rainsford himself becomes one of the hunted, and has the choice to either fight his best to survive the hunt, or to perish like all the others.

The story starts out with two people on a ship, Whitney and Rainsford, talking about hunting. Whitney argues that hunted animals don’t want to be hunted, as they fear pain and death. The 1952 movie High Noon is about a town marshal named Will Kane who arrested a man named Frank Miller. Miller wanted revenge so he returned to the town to try to kill Kane.
