What happened in 1939 to 1945 was horrible, it was some of the worst years on earth. World War II took many lives and involved much more. Around hundred million people were involved but around fifty million to eighty-five million died. They were the Axis Powers; Germany, Italy, and Japan against the Allies "Big four", the United Kingdom, United States, Soviet Union, and China. It began with Hitler and his crew, the "Nazi Party" invaded Poland and France declared war. There was a huge mass murder that happened. The holocaust killed around six million to eleven million people. These people were the Jews, and around one hundred thousand survived. The plan had many stages, it was called "The Final Solution". He writes powerful, meaningful sentences that give emotion. When he first arrives at the camp he sees fire and says he smelled burning flesh, which causes sadness, because he could see the dead people burning in the fire and he could smell the burning flesh. Later on, he mentions he sees bodies of children dumped into a pile, which gives him great pain and gives the readers pain because he writes in details to give off emotion. By the age of fourteen, he had seen unspeakable things and he was scared. He had seen so many things that he loses faith in God, he cursed at Him, he was angry. He writes about how he had never felt anger or hatred before, and that it’s his first time being angry at God. Soon, he writes that soup tastes delicious, representing that the people who are dead are not his father or him, so he is happy. But then he says the soup taste like dead flesh, causing him to finally realize that people are dying for no reason and that it could have easily been him or his father, and he is saddened by the thought of it. In the end, when he looks in a mirror, he says he sees a corpse looking at him, which means he was nothing, he lost himself, he was dehumanized.
