World War I. America needed an advantage to beat Germany and their allies. So a true patriot created one of the first assault weapon and named it the Thompson submachine gun. The weapon would of made a big difference on the war ,but it was created when the war was over. So gangsters acquired the weapons and killed many lives. New assault weapons came and ended more lives. Gangsters might be gone ,but criminals are still around and they use assault weapons for their preference of mass murdering. Assault weapons should be banned.
On April 20, 1999, two disturbed teenage boys Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris began a killing rampage at Columbine High School in the suburban town of Littleton, Colorado. This was considered one of the worst school shootings to occur at that time. In the morning of April 20, before noon, the two juveniles had killed 13 people to include 12 students and 1 teacher; they also wounded another 23 people before turning the guns on themselves. This event would change the theories as to why school shootings would occur. (History)
In the United State there is a problem that need to be fixed, people’s opinions about this problem are completely different opinions, the country is divided in the way they think, because half of them think that the country need a new assault weapons ban. Nevertheless, half of people think that it is not necessary because with guns restrictions or without them, this country is always violent. Violence is a problem to solve, and many people believe that the availability of assault guns create more violence and in some way create more destruction, but also there is the other half of the country who think that assault weapons are used only for sports and things that are not related with crime, in our country is necessary to the government to take the leadership and have a solution for a problem that is
Gun control in the United States has become a highly contested topic recently due to the mass shootings that have occurred. The Federal Bureau of Investigation defines mass murder as a murder in which four or more people are killed in one incident (Morton). Over the past decade the topic of gun control has been prevalent in new legislation because mass shootings seem more frequent. Statistics reveal that although mass shootings have not become more frequent over the years, they have become deadlier with higher death tolls than ever before. The firearms and ammunition that civilians are able to obtain since the expiration of the Assault Weapons Ban in 2004 have led to the increase in the death toll (Duwe).
Gun control and banning assault weapons is simply not the answer to mass shootings. There are many reasons why gun control is bad for citizens and does not help. Many steps have been taken to lower gun crimes and have greatly helped the cause. Assault weapons are also seen as a large issue but aren’t the problem either.
In the past decade there have been many mass shootings which sparked a nationwide debate on the ban on assault weapons. Assault weapons are Semiautomatic weapons that are usually used in the military due to their advanced features. The difference between a Semiautomatic weapon and a regular pistol is that semiautomatic guns reload automatically and can fire consistently (Assault Weapons). Majority of Americans argue that Assault Weapons should be banned nationwide because of the amount of mass shootings caused by Assault weapons. The public does not need a military level weapon for protection. Also, other countries took legal action by banning assault weapons due to tragic events. While this debate has caused major controversies, the federal government has not taken any legal act, so states started to take on their own actions. States such as New York and Connecticut
I agree with you Dondra, I support the banning these assault weapons, only for military use. I think about younger children who can get to these guns and parents don?t store them properly in the household. Not so much of the person getting permitted to buy the gun I blame the parents as well. There are so many issues dealing with gun control it is ridiculous. The government, gun seller, buy and people getting gun training. Also, another my main focus, is that the police department is so messed up and not trained and organized. How can we get gun control laws in tact when we cannot depend on our safety of the police? When I see the police doing things out of there nature, like killing innocent people we have a problem. When these types of killing
What’s missing from the typical kindergartener’s backpack? A gun. The ultimate solution to gun violence is more guns, isn’t that obvious? We are in need of guns everywhere to the point where our nation needs armed guards in every school. They say the more guns we have, the more gun violence there is, but in fact it does the complete opposite and solves gun violence.
Attention Getter: Between 1993 and 2003 gun ownership increased by 56 percent, and yet gun violence declined by almost 50 percent (Bandler). Criminals know that if people have guns to protect themselves then they might not be successful in a shooting.
Gun control has been a big factor in today’s society, now days it is often to see people getting their lives taken from them due to guns. Having researched one side of the issue, that gun violence had increased over the last year. Having researched the other side of the issue, more gun owners are feeling their rights are being taken little by little. There is no question this is a complicated issue that will require a complicated answer.
In today’s society, one of the most alienating issues in American politics is gun control. More specifically, the issue is whether or not guns should be banned in the United States. Some people would say that guns should be banned because it would reduce crime as a whole and keep citizens safer. These people, enthusiasts of stricter gun laws, fear being safe in their country where there are so many people who have access to guns. Opponents of this argument, however, also fear losing safety. They fear that they will not be able to protect themselves on a daily basis, or in a worse case scenario, protect themselves if the government happened to turn on citizens of the country. They would also argue that people, especially criminals, can still find ways to gain access to guns. Guns should not be banned in the United States due to them being able
Good afternoon. I am here to help fight for the cause to save your lives. Imagine this; you are taking a test in one of your classes. Then you hear a gunshot and the entire school goes into lockdown. Your friend, or sibling gets shot, while in the hallway, but for your own safety, you can’t leave your hiding spot. When the criminal is finally arrested, there a dozens of people who have been killed, injured, or fatally injured. All because of one man with a gun. Do you really want your life to be at risk because there is no law banning assault weapons? Do you want to walk down the hallway in fear of someone coming at you with a gun? According to an article from the Washington Post, written by Christopher Ingraham, the president/founder of a public opinions research, the ban on assault weapons lapsed, or expired, in 2004. This resulted in an increase by 183% of shootings and by 239% of deaths by guns. Obviously, this is a problem, that both puts people’s lives at risk and makes some live in fear.
The 2nd amendment of the United States states that “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” But is that truly the way that the United States should be governed under? The United States has the one of the highest amount of deaths related to gun violence in the entire world, 31st in the world exactly, but the fact that is baffling is that for such a developed and country with a strong infrastructure, why are these rates so high? From mass shooting in schools, clubs, gatherings, and neighborhoods all across America, there is certainly something else behind these mass shootings. Gun violence is an aching issue on the hands of the hands of the United States government as well, as congress is finding it difficult to
Guns should be banned in America, with 30,000 deaths yearly in America, we need to do something about it. Many counties have made strict gun control laws or just have banned guns and that seems to be helping them. We have the most gun deaths out of all wealthy countries, which is unacceptable and we need to change it as fast as possible to prevent further deaths.
The big issue of gun control in the United States, is that many people believe that it takes away the 2nd Amendment rights, which is the right to bear arms. Citizens of the United States are promised the the right to bear arms in the Constitution, and by applying gun control laws takes away that same right. Crime is high enough in cities with very few laws pertaining to gun control, but taking guns away from people who are registered with license will not solve the problem either. Placing more limitations on gun owners, particularly responsible gun owners, will not reduce gun violence. Although there are rules and regulations already in place there still is a lot of crime occurring, because laws on gun
