It was necessary for the Aztecs to use conscription to force their youth into compulsory military service. Conscription is when people in a country are required by law to serve in the military. The first reason Aztecs should have used conscription is so they could use many warriors to expand and conquer land around them to become a powerful and successful empire. An ancient prophecy from the Aztec god Huitzilopochtli stated: “We shall conquer all the people in the universe. I will make you lords and kings of every place in the world.”This notion motivated the Aztecs to develop a great empire.
