The main reason teens are sent to school is, so they can get an education and eventually have a career when older; however, phones prohibit education. Bringing a phone to school is simply atrocious and unnecessary. Some may state that parents often need to get a hold of his or her daughter or son, so cell phones are helpful. But in this case, parents can call the main office. Calling the main office of the school would not disturb the child from focusing on the lesson in class.
Teachers, and parents debate, whether allowing students to use cellphones school is a good or bad idea. I believe that allowing students to use cellphones in class is a wonderful idea. The issue is teachers think that having a student using cellphones at class is a bad idea. This is false because students using cell phones at class could enhance their learning. I have chosen three reasons to support my argument.
Well, some schools think that phones are a distraction; they can be used to cheat on a test, can be used to cyberbully, and can be distracting. But cell phones have more purposeful reasons to be allowed in classrooms. Cell phones should be allowed in classrooms because it can be used to call for help in the case of an emergency, can be used to do assignments as well as save paper, and students can study information better by using the cameras to take pictures. One main reason why cell phones should be allowed in schools is that cell phones can be used to call for help in the case of an emergency. Since 2013, 302 school shootings have occurred just in America(302 School Shootings In America Since 2013, 2018).
First of all, cell phones should be banned in school because they provide young adults with too much screen exposure. On a blog created by the Concordia University of Portland, it discusses the pros and cons of banning phones in school. The blog called Pros and Cons of Allowing Digital Devices in the Classroom states, “There are concerns from the EPA about long-term exposure to wireless devices and computer screens.” The quote determines that cell phones in school could cause kids to have additional exposure to these dangerous screens and could result in it being harmful to teens. Additional exposure meaning the students are on their phones more than they need to and bringing their phones to school encourages that. The AAP (The American Academy of Pediatrics) says that kids from the age of 3 to 18
Let me restate this; many teens skip school each day because of the cyberbullying they receive on their cell phones that they bring to school. Another source states that bullying affects a student’s grades as well; “The issue of bullying doesn’t just erode a student’s self esteem, it affects grades as well.” So, your grades get affected due to the fact that you brought your cell phone to school. This ties in with what I had said earlier about teens skipping
Not allowing cell phones at school makes the student more reliant to use a watch for the time keeping and in the business world it is a great advantage to rather use your watch for time keeping because your phone could go flat. Although having cell phones at school teachers students to look after the belongings and to accept the consequence their cell phone were to get stolen or misplaced. Despite what many people argue, allowing cell phones during school would not be a good idea because of distractions to students and teachers, a new and easy way of cheating on tests, theft would be a possibility within the school and enhanced social problems, including lack of communication and
When given the choice of banning phones from school, and keeping them, the choice should be to keep them. Reasons being that cellphones can serve as a useful tool, students should have them for safety reasons, and they keep students entertained and make them excited to learn. If this claim is not listened to, some parents may stress out over whether or not their kid is safe at school, without having contact with their child. Students also may find it difficult to learn by listening to boring classroom lectures, without the fun of learning with cellphones. For all of the reasons stated, cellphones should certainly be allowed in school.
Why being able to use phones in school should be allowed Would something nearly 92% of all americans have be a great source for help in school? Would it be bad? No, it will help many kids in school. According to Kolb, close to 70 percent of schools that had cell phone bans in place five years ago are reversing their policies. They brought it back because they thought it was a good idea to keep phones.
Reasons Why Cell Phones Could Be Beneficial In Schools Have you ever been in a situation in your classroom when you wanted to use your phone if it was to listen to music or you needed to research more than just the text you have been given? Even if some students may abuse this privilege and schools don’t believe in having them in the classroom, students should be able to use their cellphones in class because it could potentially save money for the school, help students feel more relaxed in the classroom and, be beneficial for students who have medical issues. My first point for why we should be able to use our cell phones in class is that it could potentially save the school thousands of dollars. Instead of schools having to buy laptops for everyone they could just buy 10 per class compared to 35 and spend money on something more beneficial, and have the students bring in their own devices. Alpena Public Schools alone spends thousands of dollars alone on technology, if students were allowed to use their cell phone in class and do their work on there they could only have to buy a few chromebook carts compared to all of the ones we have for each team now.
Some schools are also starting to allow students to use their phone in class. In Canonsburg Middle School the students are only allowed to keep their phones in their locker turned off, but it should not be like, the students should be able to use them to their benefit in school. What's the point of even being able to have our phones in school if the student can’t even use them. Smartphones should be implemented for cms students to enhance safety, finances, and learning. One reason smartphones would be beneficial in Canonsburg Middle School is because of safety reasons.
