Moving on in the book June learns some stuff she had never known before about the government, page 244, “They killed him.” Who did they kill, it turns out the government are the ones who killed June’s family since the dad knew too much information about how the government is putting viruses into the water they give to the poor. It turns out that Day didn’t kill Metias it was actually the government since Metias knew too much information about how the government was corrupt Day just weakened him ,“And I want to free the body that didn’t kill my brother” page 266. Now, since June knew the truth, she and Day became allies and helped escape Day from jail , “You’re fond of Day aren’t you?” pg
The child soldiers should be given amnesty as they don’t know what they are doing is wrong, that they are being manipulated into doing things, only that they are threatened if they don’t do as they are told. When we are kids the first thing we learn is what is good, and what is bad to do. Often the child soldiers parents are dead, or the parents are the ones who sent the kids to war. And at a young age without the schooling, or someone telling them what is good, they are taught that killing the enemy is good. The younger the kid the easier it is to train, and manipulate.
A military commander from Chad boasts, “if you tell them to kill, they kill.” Most people believe that once a child has been forced into war and that there is no way to correct their negative views. Some believe that these damaged, scarred, scared children don’t deserve help or sympathy. Furthermore, many believe that they are evil criminals who deserve to stay in a jail cell, but these children can be reformed and overcome their struggles, even after manipulation and loss. Once a child becomes a soldier, people believe that there is no way to turn their violent views around.
The townspeople never say that miss Emily is crazy nor is she ever diagnosed with a mental illness, but she shows symptoms and behavior that imply that she is crazy and is mentally ill. Her father isolates her from the whole town, so her father’s actions are what drive her crazy and mentally ill. One reason why people may see Miss Emily as crazy is because she tried to hold on to her father’s body and tried to convince everyone in the town that he wasn’t dead. Faulkner says, “She did that or three days with the ministers calling on her and doctors trying to persuade her to let them dispose of the body.
He started telling me how he would move houses and schools but he also told me how he missed his sister and hadn’t seen her in almost a year. That’s when I decided to ask him why. “It is quite simple you see, I’m a foster kid” he replied. “What does that mean, a foster kid?” I asked “Being a foster kid is the worst thing ever, you get bounced around from house to house always getting abused and the worst part is that you are never good enough to stay at one place, I mean I was never even good enough to stay with my own parents that they decided to leave my sister and I alone.”
I think the father who executed the massacre was similar to Oedipus. This comparison can be proven true using the thematic statement of Ignorance leads to the blindness of knowledge. In both the scenarios the subjects couldn’t see the truth cause it was blocked due to their blindness. The thing that blinded Oedipus was his hubris and the thing that blinded the father was the influence of a terrorist group on
The Time article states, “...so many of the Ugandan children abducted near their homes and schools...” (Laura Blue and Jonathan Woodward). This is important because this shows that children are being taken by other soldiers who want to manipulate the children for their military purposes. Also, children who have been apprehended at their schools are being taken without the parents knowledge. Once again, a summative article stated , “After being caught in the center of a vicious civil war in Sierra Leone, Ishmael was forced to become a child soldier” (Invisible Children). This proves that there may be people part of government and military groups who will pick up children wherever they notice them and make them become a child soldier. Therefore, child soldiers should be given amnesty because children have been forced into joining the
In the article Child Soldiers Should Be Prosecuted, it states “ In Sierra Leone child soldiers committed acts of rape, mutilation and mass killings of civilians.”(na some people will think that they should be held against their crimes but they were forced to kill by the commanders they would have not done any of these stuff if they weren’t forced to do it they were kids and believed in everything so when they got taken the commander could have told them he's their dad so they look up to him as a leader and do everything they say so they will also do it for food because they don’t get to eat if they don’t kill and go out to war. Also, it must be said that they are just little kids and they don’t know what is right from wrong in the article armed and underage, it states, “He is shouldering an automatic fully loaded rifle.”
“Well we are dead now. All the talk about dreams and sunlight that goes on in this house. It's all dead now” (143). This illustrates that Beneatha has given up on her dreams, saying that they are dead because she can't become a doctor. The reason she can't go to medical school is because Walter gave away Big Walters insurance money to Willy Harris, who then stole it.
There was a case of a 13 year old boy killing a 19 year old because he was acting out a plot he had seen on TV. The real question about this is why did a 13 year old have unsupervised access to a deadly weapon in the first place. Lousy parenting could be largely at blame for many of the incidents like this one. If a child believes it is okay to kill people just because they saw it on TV or in a video game then they haven’t had someone telling them right from wrong while growing up. No matter how much control supporters push for legislation, the NRA single handedly blocks their path and they also represent the views of hunters and sportsman who’s lives revolve around guns.
What if you can live forever? The Tucks found the secret about the spring. Then Winnie later on found out the secret too. The tucks afterwards had to leave because Mae was about to go to the gallows.
Have you ever mentioned the subject of child soldiers in a standard conversation? Most likely not. Child soldiers are not an everyday discussion topic, but recently they have grown more and more popular. While in the past, “children were not particularly effective as front-line fighters since most of the lethal hardware was too heavy and cumbersome for them to manipulate” (unicef.org), weapons have become lighter, and younger infantries have followed suit. While childhoods usually don’t consist of shooting people, taking villages, and other awful acts of war, they can, and this physiologically impacts a child.
Should Child Soldiers be prosecuted? Picture this, your family is killed by terrorists and you have nowhere else to go. A gun is forcibly attached to your hand, and you as a 9 year old is given a duty to kill as much people on the streets as you possibly can. This is horrific. Child soldiers soldiers shouldn't be prosecuted without a doubt.
