There are many suicides each year from people who carry or know someone who does or has a family member who carries. The ironic thing is that if people didn’t have the right to carry concealed handguns, most crimes, deaths and injuries would not happen because it would just be harder to get ahold of guns. Concealed handguns can easily cause the risk of unnecessary shootings. Disagreements will happen and instead of a possible fist fight a person's anger can escalate and a gun could be pulled out and that disagreement or fight turns into a deadly shooting accident. Our society today is so lazy that there may be many that would not go through the trouble just to get a gun.
The number of incidents of gun violence last year in the United States was about 60,000. In recent years, the number of mass shooting has risen to about one mass shooting per day in the United States. The country is divided with some wanting to reevaluate our gun control laws and either ban or add additional regulations to the purchase of guns. Others say it is our right for Americans to own guns and something the founding fathers considered important to put in the Bill of Rights. The number of firearm sales has risen with the number of mass shooting many Americans question if banning guns or certain guns could help decrease the number of gun violence deaths.
If guns didn’t exist the planet will be a better place than it is right know. There’s been many mass murders caused by people for selfish reason or because of mental illness. America should have better gun control. Over the years, many of the kills known to history are done by guns.
To support his opinions, he provides research that states “Over 30,000 Americans dead every year, and tens of thousands more maimed and paralyzed.” How does Waldman know that this piece of information is referring to gun usage? There is no evidence provided to prove that over 30,000 Americans die every year due to just guns. Guns are not the only weapon available in America for people to use in harmful ways.
However, let there be no mistake that these weapons are a life threat to civilians. The amount of semi-automatic guns in the U.S. puts a shockingly large price on the cost the government would pay to buy all the semi-automatic rifles back. A fairly large amount of guns exist in the United States and of that amount, about a third are assault weapons. “A November 2012 Congressional Research Service report found that, as of 2009, there were approximately 310 million firearms in the United States: ‘114 million handguns, 110 million rifles, and 86 million shotguns.’”
An additional solution proposed is everyone in America becomes educated on gun safety. This is founded on the fact that children are able to get a hold of guns and accidentally fire them. Many people have died at the hands of toddlers. In fact, "'during the first six months of this year, minors died from accidental shootings — at their own hands, or at the hands of other children or adults — at a pace of one every other day, far more than limited federal statistics indicate'" (Holley 2). Other answers have been proposed and attempted, but have not been successful such as childhood trauma reduction, closing illegal gun sales online and in person, and toughening background
Furthermore, the US has an estimated 283 million guns in civilian hands even though researchers claim that America’s high level of gun ownership are a major reason the US is getting extremely worse in terms of gun violence than other developed nations. It is the extremely tragic thing to say but looking at the patterns of gun violence, most of the people claims that there will be another mass shooting in America. Yet, no law has been passed or introduced by the lawmakers to prevent this tragic violence. After every act of gun violence with regards to a mass shooting, there are calls for action and there will be a debate in the house.
According to the Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, the CDC state there are approximately 30,000 individuals killed by guns each year across America, which includes those killed by accident, suicide, or homicide (Gun Control). In addition to the vast amount of people killed by guns each year, there are also numerous gun related incidents that occur each day that don’t result in death. Due to the frequency of these occurrences, Democrats call for stricter gun control. To lower the amount of gun related incidents the Democrats want a more intensive background check before a firearm can be purchased.
Some might argue that the US is one of the greatest countries in the world, but compared to others, it's one of the worst when it comes to gun control. It has become apparent that the gun control policies aren't as strict as they should be, as everyday in the US, an average of 36 people are killed at the hands of guns and more than 32,000 people are killed annually. Guns violence impacts society in many ways. Statistics show more people have been killed by guns than all the American wars since 1968 and it's estimated that 280 million people currently own a gun in the US. A country where 280 million people running around with firearms that cause fatal harm is incredibly alarming.
One article online states that gun related violence accounts for about 30,000 to 40,000 deaths every year in America. More than half of these deaths occur due to self infliction (Keidan 48). This makes it obvious that there should be a certain amount of gun laws in place to stop people from hurting each other. However, people commonly have to use guns for self defense. One such example of this happened when four masked men went into a smoke shop.
How did the gunman obtain the weapon? This could have been prevented. According to research, more than 30,000 U.S. men, women and children die each year from gunshot wounds, the highest homicide rate from guns in the world. Of those 30,000 deaths, only about 1,500 are due to accidental shootings. Additionally according to research, Great Britain, France, Germany,
Secondly, gun massacres are usually committed with legal weapons which makes people believe those could be prevented with stricter laws. Every day 48 children and teenagers get shot, including suicide attempts and unintentional shootings. From this number, seven members of the youth wont survive every single day (1). Considering a whole year, this makes way over 2,500 children and teenager who die from gun violence.
What the media does not say is that of 30,000 gun deaths 20,000 of those people killed themselves with a gun (Goldberg 2012 pg 70). Some of these facts are shocking to hear. Even though gun control is the first thing
Today’s politicians have it all wrong when it comes to the gun control battle, and the fight to ban gun access across America. America as a country owns more firearms than any other country in the world. Currently people in the United States feel that their second amendment rights do not hold the weight that they used to . Washington believes the violence comes from the guns; however, it takes a human being to pull the trigger. That is the same as saying the car killed the man and not the drunk driver inside.
