Lena Duong ENC 1101 Fall B December 4, 2013 Research Essay Same-Sex Marriages You want to know what I think about gay marriage? I think that people should be allowed to marry whoever they want to marry, whether it's man to woman, man to man, or woman to woman, whatever the case may be. It is not fair to ban something that means nothing but love.
Imagine a child living in foster care waiting for months, maybe even years, for a couple to come and adopt them and make them a part of their family. Then, finally after a long time of heartbreak and loneliness, a family does come. These two people have everything that any parent should in order to adopt such as: money, a stable job, no criminal record, plans for the future, domestic peace, and all the love a parent could give a child. Yet, at the end of this day, they are turned down and the child is at a loss of the opportunity of having a good, loving family. Why? Because the couple that wanted to adopt were two gay men. Does that seem fair?
I) Introduction – The Foster Care system and Homosexual’s being able to adopt both show through research to provide many benefits to a child in need. Although neither seems to be the best option, people seem to have rooted for one more than the other due to sexual orientation, but what for? Doesn’t both foster care and homosexual adoption provide love and care for children or is one more suitable for children than the other? Through personal research it seems as if Homosexual’s adopting children is just as good as a child remaining in the Foster Care system (Claim). II)
Adoption is typically an option that is thought about when the process of conceiving a biological child is out of the question. For some couples it may be infertility, potential hereditary health problems, or that carrying a child would be dangerous to the mother and unborn child. Those are just some issues that would cause a heterosexual couple to contemplate the idea of adopting a child, but what about couples of the same-sex? Same-sex couples do not have the means to reproduce together so many opt for adoption, which sounds easy, but typically is not. Adoption is a long and hard drawn out process for any couple, but for couples that are of the same-sex, they typically get the shorter end of the stick. Most people believe that for a child
There is a significantly higher amount of ethnic, or non-white, children that need to be adopted. This creates a win-win situation for both the parents and the child because the child can be placed with their new family much faster. Whites who understand the significance of race, and who are otherwise qualified, should be permitted to adopt black children (Maxwell). If a white family is willing to learn and understand what it means to be a certain race, then they should be allowed to adopt black children. If whites could just adopt black children, then the interracially adoption will be quick and black children will have homes quicker.
Gay adoption is the adoption of children by same sex couples. Based on this topic, I’d like to look into the question “Are children adopted by gay parents more likely to have the psychological problem?” And the thesis I stated is that gay couples are able to provide a warm and normal environment for adopted children to grow up. I want to focus on this topic from the current situation of gay adoption, gay couples are capable of raising children and children adopted by gay parents are the same as those who born in heterosexual families.
President Barack Obama once said, “Every single American—gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual, transgender—every single American deserves to be treated equally in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of our society.” For many generations people have created a common misconception that lesbian and gay people are different from them. As a nation, men and women have named lesbians, gays, and bisexuals as sinners and “the devils work.” This causes men and women to believe that same-sex couples are not fit parents. Now is the time to change these thoughts; lesbians and gays are in fact people just like everyone else. These citizens are only trying to live their lives in ways to make themselves happy. The thoughts that children who have gay or lesbian
If an adopter did not want a different race child, they would have not accepted the adoption. If the government was just to take the child away, then they should not have given the child to them in the first place. Interracial adoption is a fine way to rescue a lost child and build a loving family.
Should Adoption or Abortion Be More Readily Available in America? The argument of abortion vs. adoption has been a lingering soft spot for many Americans. All throughout history, people have argued about whether or not abortion is ethical and should be legal. According to FindLaw, the court case Roe v. Wade ruled in a 7-2 vote and made abortion legal in 1973.
They should be able to marry or adopt children if they choose to do so. On the contrary, Republicans believe that marriage and adoption should only be accepted when a man and a woman are involved. (Democrat vs Republican, n.d.). Under the women’s rights branch, the two party also contradict. Republicans believe that
Everyone has an opinion and different beliefs on almost every topic, in which one of the most controversial topics is adoption. In adoption, people believe that race matters due to their ethical or cultural beliefs; however race does not matter because every child needs a loving home. Additionally, studies of multiracial families show that kids are more aware of their culture, as well as they are more like the community around them, then their ethnic background. There are many adoption agencies, and others with the beliefs that kids need to be with parents of the same ethnicity because it would provide the child with more cultural awareness, as well as it would prevent children from the danger and backlash they might get from others. In
Homosexuality is becoming more and more accepted and integrated into today’s society, however, when it comes to homosexuals establishing families, a problem is posed. In most states, homosexuals can adopt children like any other married or single adult. There are many arguments to this controversial topic; some people believe that it should be legal nationally, while others would prefer that is was banned everywhere, or at least in their individual states. There are logical reasons to allow gays to adopt children, but for some, these reasons are not enough. The main issue really is, what is in the best interest of the child?
Regardless if a single does not qualify for some part of the adoption i strongly believe that they should be able to adopt a child as long as they have steady income. To conclude, having a child in one's life can be great in so many ways it’s crazy, there are a lot of single lonely people out in the world and kids can be the solution. By having a kid in their life they create a bond and the adults are not so lonely anymore which helps both parties. Adopting is not an easy process, singles have to prepare and go through a lot to get the chance to raise a child, therefore
The maltreatment of children not only affects the children themselves, but also affects the family by making it dysfunctional. To prevent this awful child-battering, people should know what exactly child abuse is, its effects, and how to refrain it. Understanding exactly about the concept of child abuse will make the abuser know that this behavior is wrong and that s/he needs to stop the mistreatment of kids. If you see that a child has
