Matt’s Dumb Decision Would you let a stranger into your house if you were alone in the forest? Matt Hallowell, the main character in The Sign of the Beaver, by Elizabeth George Speare, had to make this decision. Thirteen-year-old Matt had been left alone in the woods while his father went to guide his sister and mother to their new home in Maine. One day after Matt’s father had left, a massive man named Ben came to Matt and asked to spend the night at his house. While everyone agrees Ben could easily overpower Matt once inside the house, some say Matt should have allowed Ben to enter the house, and others believe he should not have let Ben inside. Matt should not have willingly allowed Ben into his house for three reasons. Ben was a stranger, he used Matt’s possesions, and Ben was and evil man. …show more content…
Ben could have been anybody, even a murderer. Matt was alone in the woods, and did not even have any neighbors to help defend him once Ben was inside. Even though Matt had a gun, Ben was much bigger and stronger than Matt, and could easily overpower him for his it. The second reason Matt should not have let Ben into the house is because Ben used Matt’s possessions. Ben had no more right to enter the cabin than a dog has a right to eat from its master’s table. He took Matt’s time when he could have been doing something else, and he ate Matt’s food. By spending the night he robbed Matt of sleep when he tried to stay awake to watch Ben. The third reason Matt should not have let Ben into the house is because Ben could definitely harm Matt. With his dad gone there was no adult there to protect him from Ben. Without his dad Matt was virtually defenseless against Ben, especially when Ben was inside their small, one-room cabin. And if he was able to defeat Ben, he would probably just return with backup to get revenge on

Self Interest vs. Compassion In the novel, Messenger, by Lois Lowry, the author uses the main character’s reactions to many different challenges throughout the text to develop a theme of self interest versus compassion through two main events. The main character is Matty, a young boy who came to Village as young boy. He had two main challenges throughout the book, keeping a huge secret of him having a gift and him having to help Kira travel through Forest to village. One of the challenges Matty faces throughout the text is keeping his secret.
Angela would be able to sue Mario for the unintentional tort negligence. Mario was negligent because he unintentionally caused injury to Angela’s home in a situation where he was aware his actions could cause damage to the renovations going on in her home at the time. In order for Mario to be found negligent, Angela must prove three factors: duty of care, standard of care, and cause-in-fact. Duty of care is the obligation to avoid careless actions that could cause harm to one or more persons. Mario can be proved guilty of duty of care because he had answered a phone call on the job, which influenced him to leave because of an emergency without closing the water pipes and leaving them open.

Family is not an important thing. It’s everything. In the whole world, there are many different types of family. The broken ones, the strange ones, the chaotic ones, and the normal ones. In the novel Walk Two Moons, published in 1994, written by Sharon Creech, there are some families, and all of them are different.
The Worst Crime: Matt’s or Richard’s “Killings”, written by Andre Dubus, illustrates how the death of a loved one may lead to dire consequences for all the parties included. Matt Fowler’s son, Frank, was murdered in cold blood by a jealous soon-to-be ex-husband, Richard Strout. When the death of Frank sunk into the lives of the Fowler’s, Matt believed he had to retaliate in some sort of fashion. The sort of fashion he chose was to seek revenge and kill Richard for his wrongdoings, which he did. Some people believe that the murder committed by Richard Strout can be considered more serious because of his act of passion and his lackadaisical style of living without worrying about his future.
Throughout Fever 1793 several characters experience significant challenges or adverse situations but the one character that I think experienced the most challenges and was faced with the most adversity was Mattie. Grandfather’s death is when Mattie was faced with the most adversity. She changed a lot after his death, she became mentally stronger. Also, I learned a lot about life from Mattie’s response to her grandfather’s death.

It made it clear to people that something was not right when the pickle dish was brought down from the shelf. In a way Mattie symbolized the cat when the pickle dish was destroyed. The cat knocked over the pickle dish, which symbolised the destruction of their marriage. This shows that when the cat destroyed the pickle dish, Mattie also destroyed Ethan and Zeena’s
Benvolio said to Romeo that, “ Signior Martino and his wife and daughters, some beautious sisters” and lovely nieces”_ and of course Rosaline, Romeo’s last love, destined for the nunnery rather than his arms”(1.2.64). This quote shows that Benvolio is cheering up Romeo so that he could go to Capulet’s party. Benvolio should be Pardoned because he was honest with prince and told him every single thing which happened. He told what happened between Romeo and Tybalt and so whose fault was that so that is why he should be pardoned.
He was known as the fiercest of fierce, the messenger, everyone has their own identification that helps describe themselves. In the novel Messenger by Lois Lowry, Matty, a young man sets out on a journey that involves selflessness, and propensity. They also make fun of Ben’s inability to use new technology, relating this to the fact that he is older. The second topic which was also covered in our class would be the idea of life transitions, which all older people go through. As one ages, there is a risk of losing connections to daily life when one retires or loses a spouse or friends to death. At the beginning of the movie, Ben has the risk of losing this connectivity because he has retired from his long-term job at the phone book company. He has also had the funerals of both friends and his wife.
