Rumble the Bison
What's that sound? That is the sound of the fans cheering for not only the players, but the amazing mascot, Rumble the Bison. Rumble the Bison is the mascot for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder is an organization in the NBA (National Basketball Association). Mascots in the Mascot Hall of Fame should be funny, energetic, helpful, and memorable to fans that attend the games and people in the community. Even though some people argue that Rumble the Bison is involved on the court too much, he should be in the Mascot Hall of Fame because he has groundbreaking performances, a great impact on the community and sport, and has a fun,

One example is that Rumble gets people pumped up and energized, on and off the court. An article from the Oklahoma Blood Institute states that, “The Oklahoma City Thunder teamed up with Oklahoma Blood Institute as part of its Holiday Assist Tradition. Thunder fans came out in scores to give blood in the 9th annual Holiday Blood Drive with the Oklahoma City Thunder. More than 350 people rolled up their sleeves, saving the lives of 1,068 patients in Oklahoma hospitals. Rumble the Bison and the Thunder Girls visited during the day to pump up Thunder spirit and cheer on donors.”(Baldwin). Another way he gets people excited for a game is by playing drums, dancing, doing crazy stunts, dunking baskets, and much more. As a general rule, mascots should make an impact on their sport and their team. Rumble the Bison does this in a very fun and exciting …show more content…
He originates from a campfire story. A herd of American bison were lost in the Arbuckle Mountains during a storm, the kind of storm only Oklahoma can produce. The tornados hit and the whole heard was hurt. But, one stayed behind to help his friends escape. He took his friends up to the tip of a peak to search for a way down the mountain. The buffalo ended up getting struck by lighting. The bolt did not hurt him, but the power of thunder changed him. Suddenly he was walking on 2 legs and he could jump higher, run faster, and think more clearly than everyone else. According to an article by NBA OKC Thunder, “With many sightings, the legend grew through the years, of a mighty bison, with remarkable powers, roaming the hills alone.”(NBA OKC Thunder). With the power of Rumble, the Oklahoma City Thunder was formed. They had the ability to jump higher, run faster, and dunk better. Rumble helped the Thunder team out greatly every time they stepped on the court. Rumble became a legend. As a general rule, most mascots are designed to make people laugh and be able to entertain crowds. Rumble the bison clearly shows that he has an important history, and has lots of power to get the crowd going wild. Rumble is very unique due to his campfire story. Rumble has danced in many half time performances with his memorable and fun design. This
As usual, hear me out and read what I have to say before you react. Go into this with an open mind and relax. Ok, now let me explain. The Oklahoma City Thunder will go down in history as the organization that ruined a team filled with three rising superstars in their prime. Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden are all MVP candidates this season and somehow they all ended up on the same team.
It’s been a big debate in the sports world over recent years: “Should Pete Rose be in the hall of fame?”. The former baseball star was put on the MLB’s ineligible(banned from hall of fame) list in 1989 for gambling as a player and manager. Pete Rose should be allowed in the hall of fame because he was one of the greatest batters/ all around players of all-time and his crimes in the sport are lesser than those of others allowed in the hall of fame. Pete Rose is one of the greatest players in baseball’s history.
Despite having a wide plethora of health problems, there's no question the UGA mascot is perfectly suited to cheer on the dawgs on behalf of the passionate fans the football games generate. The University of Georgia is well respected, academically, in large part due to its prestigious veterinary school. Some would find it ironic that a university, known for providing the highest quality veterinary care in the nation, employs one of the most vulnerable, unhealthy dog breeds to represent a strong and tough football team that isn't afraid of a challenge. Somehow, the university pulls it off and makes UGA easily the most likeable mascot in the SEC. Without UGA, the stadium would seem empty.
Greg Maddux, was he the best pitcher of his generation? Greg Maddux off the baseball diamond may look like a high school history teacher to some, but it was his work on the mound that earned him the nickname the professor. While Greg Maddux may not exactly fit what some say the best pitcher in baseball is supposed to look like it’s his statistics that say for the better part of his career he was. We’ve all been outmatched at some point in our lives; for some it was mentally, and for others it was physically. Greg Maddux is no exception to this because unlike Randy Johnson who was 6 foot 10 inches tall and left handed or Roger Clemens who was 6 foot 4 inches tall and weighed around 250 pounds Greg was physically outmatched everyday when he showed up to the ballpark.
They were killed for glue and fertilizer, and sold for a profit. Americans and Native Americans did not get along, so naturally, the government wanted to take control and kill off the Native Americans. General Sheridan was in charge of this task, and he declared the in order for the Native Americans to go extinct, the buffalo should as well. Due to the small number of bison that were leftover, the bison currently alive are deeply genetically intermingled and lack genetic diversity. This is dangerous for the population and will likely eventually cause problems when trying to survive.
Since mascots usually have memorable or groundbreaking performances on and off the field. Willie always has groundbreaking and memorable performances, he shows these traits on and off the field. From his sideline pushups to him pumping up the crowd he is always memorable and groundbreaking. “The costumed mascot displays wildcat strength at K-State football games when he does push ups each time his team scores. The amount that Willie knocks out equals the number of Wildcat points on the scoreboard.”
~ Wally the Green Monster ~ A friendly monster named Wally once made his cozy home in a section of Boston called The Fenway. But knowing that some people were scared of monsters, he would rarely venture out from his front door. Little did he know that he would be one of the most loved mascots in the MLB! Or even all time! Although, some people may argue that Wally isn’t qualified to be a part of the Mascot Hall of Fame because he doesn't stand out enough, but we disagree because, his design of character is memorable, he is involved in his community, he has multiple memory moments, he gets very involved with his team, and he is youth focused.
Also, the team could change their name to the warriors, it is simple and is less direct than
Teams like the Vikings and Celtics all have mascots who honor their heritage, and we should feel honored. While I agree that those teams do have mascots that honor a certain heritage, do we ever hear of people protesting for the change of the Vikings mascot or name? Native Americans have been protesting the use of Native American mascots for decades, yet only the NCAA has banned the use of
What’s that sound? It’s the sound of the crowd chanting, Hold your horses, the elephants are coming! In the beautiful town of Chicago, Illinois there is a brand new mascot hall of fame. This place inducts the best mascots from all sports that had a major impact in their sport, community, a memorable or groundbreaking performance, and a fun and unique costume. Even though some argue that Big Al the Elephant isn’t the best mascot and isn’t worthy of the hall of fame, we think that he has hit every category to be inducted because he is designed by Disney.
Rodeo announcer Andy Stewert says, "But when you come to a place like Lehi, I mean, this is a community effort. Everybody gets involved. Everybody wants it to be successful. Everybody's demeanor is rodeo-driven. That makes small-town rodeos special.
The Civil Rights Movement was a struggle for African Americans to gain social justice. This occurred between the 1950s and 1960s, and was very hard to overcome. At this time, blacks weren’t able to attend the same schools as whites, and be on the same team as them, which showed up in the movie and showed immediate controversy at the beginning of it. In Remember the Titans, the “Titans” are a racially mixed football team with an African American head coach, and a white assistant coach. Music was a binding force for the team, because it made them happy, encouraged them to want to play better on the field, and got them focused on the game, and it gave them a sense of hope through the toughness of racial segregation of some on the team.
Since Sitting Bull worked to preserve his land he allied with the other tribes to fight against the government. The wars resulted in reservations that are still currently active today.
Proud To Be (Mascots),” produced by the National Congress of American Indians, convinces the audience of the importance and necessity of changing the mascot of the Washington Redskins to something not offensive or racist towards Native Americans or any other group. Throughout the video, rhetoric provides levels of techniques in language and imagery in order to persuade the audience. The intended audience, mainstream American football fans, and their relationship with the speaker establish what group of people the ad needs to convince for the mascot to change. The video’s use of ethos, pathos, and logos through one word descriptions and images serve as the most effective visual rhetoric to the argument. Music, diction, imagery, suspense, and
Zeus could control the lighting and the thunder earning him the nickname the “Thunderer”. (cartwright). The people of greece worshipped him and respected him and his teachings. They had the first olympics in his honour. So many cults in his name were made in greece to honour him and his wonderful name.
