Sports are fun and very beneficial. Everyone can improve in skill, strength and cooperation. Both genders, however, may improve better with the opposite. The question is, should sports teams be coed? Of course some people would prefer not to be paired in a coed team, but it’s a very positive influence on both genders. Firstly, coed teams are a very positive and beneficial asset to boys and girls. When playing in a coed team, both genders bring out the best in each other. There are fewer complaints, little trash talk, and very few disputes. Unlike the coed team, a same gender team would argue, speak negatively about one another, and complain throughout a game. Secondly, there are many experiences within a coed team, where improvement in
I believe girls have the option to join different sports hey can join wresting, football and they also have their own league of soccer, basketball, and softball. We should not change now we raise our boys, because not every boy is the same way. In many schools they are gender neutral
It is an imperative matter that we take a look at the impact of Title IX on sports as well as why it should be viewed from a multidimensional perspective. Women’s opportunities for competitive physical activity were restricted in America up until Federal Legislation, commonly referred to as Title IX, which later became law. It required American society to recognize a woman’s right to participate in sports on a plane equivalent to that of men. Prior to 1870, activities for women were recreational rather than sport-specific in nature. They were informal, noncompetitive, rule-less; they emphasized physical activity rather than competition.
A majority of high school cheerleaders dream to be a part of a college cheer team. The level of difficulty goes up along with the number of rules and regulations go down. Even though both high school and college cheerleaders cheer for the same reasons, like getting the crowned hype for the game and supporting the players, they have many differences that we don't notice. At almost all football and basketball games, home or away, cheerleaders will be seen on the sidelines. Cheerleaders have two main goals while performing and standing on the sideline, to get the crowd hype and to support the players.
In the article named “Benefits of Teamwork In Sports.” the author, Wade Harle showed how learning to cooperate with others towards a certain goal in youth sports is what builds character, friendship and important life skills for players and also coaches. The friendships built throughout a team can last a lifetime for some players, and the journey of a team throughout a season is often stuck in your memory for a lengthy period of time. Also found in that article is, the teamwork in sports offer a way for kids to compete for something together. Although it is important to know that winning isn’t everything in sports, some competition can be great for people.
To be more specific in the areas we have evolved, we have increased our overall tolerance in cultural and gender differences in sports though it could still improve. We prove such even in our own school system, our Santa Teresa sports activities. We have a variety of people here in Santa Teresa, which includes our staff members and students, who all support others into being physical in their daily lives. Even as we age, we grow new perspectives and thoughts on sports, from riding
In colleges the amount men and women on sport teams has to be proportional with the amount of men and women at a school because of the Title IX. But there are some sports, like wrestling and other men sports like men's gymnastics or swimming, where there are a lot more men than women are on a team. Which leaves two ways to fix that problem; 1. Get more women on the team, which may require a lot of money 2. Make some of the men leave the team.
One of the biggest issues with NCAA sports is should college athletes be able to unionize and play. According to their website, The NCAA is an organization that represents over 1,100 colleges and universities from the Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3 Level (ncaa.org). In addition, The NCAA doled out more than $2.7 billion in athletic scholarships along with other resources, student-athletes can utilize (ncaa.org). Although the NCAA generates mass revenue, only the top programs are usually profitable while most schools operate at the institution cost (Mitchell & Edelman, 2013). I believe college athletes should not be unionized or paid to play college sports.
It will also allow players to accomplish better behavior and team sportsmanship, while also building stronger bonds. In addition, according to Etienne, creator of the 2015 article, “Pros and Cons of Co-Ed games and mixed team sports,” Etienne claims, “Co-ed games bring out the best in players from
Sports should not be based on whether you are more interested in girls or guys sports; it should be based on which sport brings in more revenue and has the most participation
The first reason that kids should participate in competitive sports is that sports teach kids valuable morals. By learning these morals and life lessons from an early age, they are more likely to start using them in the future
Being on a team teaches the student some valuable life lessons. For example, being able to do tasks together, not alone, standing up for each other, and have fun while you can. Later on in life you don't want to have that feeling of regret from not playing sports when you had the chances to
I do believe that they should be able to be on the same team without the feeling of others disapproving of their choice. With that being said, I think we should make sports more open to both genders. Such as making a boys and girls volleyball team or a football team that allows both boys and girls to join. I know a change like that may not happen for a while, but why not start trying
Although over time gender discrimination has grown progressively over the years, one place that gender inequality is not fully present is in the sports world. Gender inequality in sports has been an issue in the industry for centuries. For years and years women faced the issues of lower pay, not as much publicity and not being appreciated as a female athlete. Clearly, even in this prevalent era of alleged equality and impartiality, most sports still remains as a male dominion, as there still is an unnoticed barrier between sport and woman. Through this analysis, I wanted to investigate some of the initial causes for the above circumstances.
In “Commanding the Room in Short Skirts: Cheering as the Embodiment of Ideal Girlhood”, Adams and Bettis argue that a feminist poststructuralist reading of cheerleading states cheerleading as a discursive practice that has changed significantly in the past 150 years to accommodate the shifting and often contradictory meanings of normative femininity. Overall they argue that cheerleading is surrounded by gender. A gendered activity reconstructing feminism and what people typically think about women in sports. With cheerleading transitioning into a female dominant activity, it comes with some negative stereotypes. Cheerleading is also described as an erotic icon.
I have three reasons why it matters there is more but I will be talking about theses three. First it improves your health and prevents obesity or stem weight gain.
