About 88% of teens from the ages 13-17 have access to a mobile phone(Matchan). That percentage rises every day, and teens are eager to apply their cell phones in classrooms. At times teachers allow their students to use their cell phones in class for educational apps only. Parents also support cell phones in classrooms so their child can contact them for rides home, after school activities and emergencies(Kiema). Even though thoughts on cell phones are that they do not belong in classrooms, students should be able to use their phones in class. First of all students can put their cell phones to use while taking quizzes or tests on them, second of all they can use phones for fact checking/a dictionary, lastly students can use cell phones as calendars/planners.
The first reason for using cell phones in class is, taking quizzes or tests will save you plenty of time. “This is probably one of the most interesting and revolutionary uses of the mobile phone in the classroom. Students can now take quizzes and tests on their mobile phone that were created earlier by their teacher. In this way, teachers can gain valuable real-time insight into the knowledge of their students and the effectiveness of their teaching.”(Leyden). Using cell phones saves you time in many ways when taking quizzes or tests. Also cellphones are useful for fact checking or a dictionary. Finally, students can use cell phones as calendars or as planners. And since a greater amount of teens are using cell phones in their everyday life, they would like it if they could put to play something they love to play with, like a cell phone, in school to help benefit their schoolwork.
