Shrimp larvae (one male and one female) enter through the small pores, become trapped and spend the rest of their lives inside the sponge. This is not a bad thing, as the shrimp and the sponge have a mutualistic symbiotic relationship. The shrimp keep the basket clean and in return, the basket provides food for the shrimp.

This could be due to enviornmental reasons. Due to the enviornment brine shrimp usually have to grow is due to natural selection. Through natural selection they are able to pass down genes and carry ablitly to reproduce. Unlike in our experiment where we just had a solution and them in a petry dish. Female blue crabs lay 600,000-8 million eggs at one time. By definition, an ecosystem is all the living things and nonliving things that live in a specific area or environment and interact with each other. The Neritic Zone is located on the continental shelf. Much of sea life lives in this zone because it has well-oxygenated water, low water pressure, and a stable temperature. The Neritic zone goes down 200 meters or 656 feet.
The shrimp case study was the most eye opening exercise in the class because we were able to experience the process of creating a non-governmental organization. In an era of social movements and a push for change, the case study really made it clear that trying to make change and create a non-governmental group, whether it be a top-down approach or a bottom-up approach is difficult. Our goal as a shrimp justice NGO was to create transparency in the shrimp industry, but all the different stakeholders the methods of attaining transparency varied within interest groups. For example, the room had two opinions, the shrimp industry group wanted to really expose the harsh realities of the industry. For example, when Tris said that he wanted to expose

The Laurentian Great Lakes contain twenty percent of the worlds freshwater and due to recent human interaction they have become attacked by many Invasive species. In fact, there have been at least 162 unintentionally introduced species established in the Great Lakes (Vásárhelyi & Thomas, 2003). These species have caused numerous economic and environmental problems. Moreover, “invasive species control costs the Great Lakes Basin an estimated 5.7 billion dollars a year” (Pimentel, 2005). The mass spreading of Zebra Mussels, which are an invasive species, have contributed to these problems.

I have chosen to research about Marine biology because I would like to learn about sea life, the ocean, and its surrounding environment. To start off, a Marine biologist might study coral, crabs, fish, microscopic marine organisms, sea stars, seaweed, squid, or whales.
