Let me tell you how the the Minnesota Vikings football team made it to the playoffs after starting the season 0-4 and then winning the rest of their games and win the NFC North. When some of their players were 3 years old they could tackle a 300 pound lineman, or even throw a ball so fast it started a fire. When they got their first win it was with an offensive line that was all rookies and Sam Bradford with his first year with the Minnesota Vikings. Scottrade Center erupted. The Blues would go on to win the game and unfortunately lose the series; however, this was one of the most exhilarating sports moments I have ever witnessed. Many of the hockey games I have been to have been memorable, but a couple of other experiences also stand out. My dad had bought tickets for us to go to the game on the night of my 16th birthday. Later that day he was offered tickets from a company that does contracting work for him.
Today is the day I’m going to win the Stanley Cup. During the season I stayed at the Staal residence with the Staal brothers, Eric and Jordan. Eric is one of the best hockey players I have ever seen. In the past couple of seasons were rough for him.
The New York Rangers head to Minnesota to take on the Wild, and look into extending their winning streak to 2-games. Unfortunately, for the Rangers the Wild have been lights out on home ice, and the Rangers have been nothing short of mediocre on the road. However, if there is a plus too look at while this team heads west for another road trip, it will be the fact that Derek Stepan (broken ribs) and Kevin Klein (oblique) both were cleared for contact and skated a full practice Wednesday.
Today I am honored to be standing here presenting the Conn Smythe trophy to my friend Duncan Keith. The Conn Smythe is awarded to the most valuable player during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I first heard of this tremendous defensemen back in the 2009-10 season where he helped prevail the Chicago Blackhawks to their first Stanley Cup victory since 1961. It seems like Duncan never has a bad season and makes very few mistakes on the ice. The amount of time he puts into this game really shows his dedication and love for hockey.
