Significant Event Essay
Imagine being in an unfamiliar country and having to face one of your biggest fears. I was in that situation when I went to Mexico last spring with my friend, Lauren, and both sets of our parents. This was a significant event in my life for I faced one of my biggest fears one day. There I was, in Mexico, ready to climb my way down to the bottom of the ocean. I had signed a waver, put my wet shoes on, and was waiting for my turn for a helmet. I was not sure how the helmets worked for I have never used one of those contraptions before. I quickly found out, however, when I started my descent down the ladder and a worker put the helmet on my head. It was quite heavy resting on my shoulders, and the glass screen

Standing on the deck, legs still trembling, I looked over at my parents who stood near by with a very proud smile on their face for what I had just done. I realized then too that I was very proud of myself. I had just faced one of my biggest fears! Just moments ago I was on the bottom of the ocean, surrounded by fish, and with only the trust in a helmet over my head keeping me alive. Then it was all over and I could breathe again on land like a normal human being. I took a deep breath and smelt the air, taking it all in. I had done it. The significance of that whole experience was something I would never forget. I had perseverance and faced my fear and did not turn back. I had done something that many people did not want to do, including my parents, even with it not being one of their biggest fears. In the end, I had done it. All in all, that day in Mexico was a very remarkable experience for me. I faced one of my biggest fears and came out stronger because of it. I made myself very proud that day. I literally dove into the great depths of my fear and did not turn back, and that is why I will never forget
The only thing left to do was to put the speech, which I had already written in my head 1000 times, down on paper. However, once I began writing,I realized that something inside of me had
That week was where a lot of things about myself began to make sense. I understood why I was a spirited introvert, why I valued family so much, and why I was so in touch with my heritage. I was raised hearing mixtures of English and Spanish all around my house, seeing Dominican flags adorning bedroom walls and miniature American ones stuffed inside cabinets. Admittedly, I spent most of my childhood trying to balance two cultures that were both out of my grasp. My life has always been in the city, but there was a whole other world on a little island in the Caribbean, one that I made sure to bring back home with
My brother has always mentioned how fun the Fiesta De San Marcos is in Aguascalientes, Mexico. One year I decided to take a trip with him. As we arrived I started observing the differences in culture and started experiencing their way of living. I learned how they have siesta time and close shop at noon to have lunch with their families and in the night the Spanish inspired city lights up with all the boots of Fiesta. At first, this was a shock to me since I am used to going anywhere at any time for things needed, but by observation and partition knowledge I learned how to work around those little obstacles and got to enjoy my trip.
As we went up the ski lift, i could feel the beauty of the fresh white powder on the mountain. Right away i could tell that this was going to be very difficult because of all of the trees and slopes on the course. At the top of the mountain, i looked down and took a deep breath. I said to myself “ no regrets”. I jumped and before i knew it, i was heading down the mountain.
It’s the best way to make sure you’re protected. You won’t have to worry about the helmet not holding up when you need it to. The helmet has a large viewing area so you can see everything around you. It has a fully automatic on and off switch, so you don’t need to use your hands.
I was horrified and in a trance unable of helping or moving. At that moment all I could ponder about was my memories, pleasant memories, and disturbing memories. I saw my parents' faces appearing in front of me and taking my hand, I suppose to a better and safe place. If this is my last moment in life, I'm happy with whom I am, and whom I've become. It's 1862, my name is Isabelle Robertson, I'm 17 years old,
This experience was one of the nicest one’s I have had the privilege to live because I realized what first world problems are and how a relatively trivial or minor problem is in contrast with some serious problems a developing country may be experiencing. Mexico is still a country in need for development. I never really thought of it but after this experience I realized how lucky I am to live the life I am living, for the simple fact of being alive, and it made me want to do something about it and keep helping in whatever way I can of those in
My husband, when he knew I would be ok, told me to open my eyes. We were still at a considerable height but I felt safe once again. My whole body went limp and all my adrenaline gushed out and I felt amazing! I was able to enjoy these last few moments of the Sky Coaster.
The over-used, worn-out helmet offers practically no cushion between you and the cold, hard ground, and you collapse and all the wind
According to my subject, her most significant events would have to been the birth of her children. She felt she raised her children to be in the right path to be successful and find someone who they see spending their live together and create a family. Her second most significant event was when her children and grandchildren spent Christmas with her. Even if the children were fighting and yelling, she felt her home was filled with joy and happiness.
You never know how helpless you are until you have a near death experience. One summer, when I was young, my family and I went to a water park. I didn’t know how to swim, but thankfully the majority of the park required no swimming ability. For one of the rides, I wanted to get out of my tube and jump around, but once I climbed out, I immediately sunk to the bottom. I tried to kick back up and just as my legs gave in, a lifeguard climbed in and pulled me up.
I kind of just, like, risked my life. I just feel like i am a kid again. I saw my life flash before my eyes. It was an amazing experience. Don't be scared.
My opponent dropped to the ground, knocked out cold. In the end, I felt victorious as if I had the world in my hands. I learned to overcome my fear, and pain from hard work, dedication, training, being knocked down, and also listening to my inner voice; but in the end it was all worth the time and effort since what did not kill me, only made me
We climbed for several hours and the climb was slow and demanding. Whenever I was thirsty or tired, I stopped frequently to drink water to take a rest. We were on the northern part of the rim and when I looked into the caldera, I looked across to the other side. Since the view was amazing, it took my breath away. I was filled with awe and
