This is me
Hi, I’m Emma. I am a year seven student at Hillbrook. I have been lucky enough to have had many amazing experiences in my life so far. Before I was three months old, I had been to Tasmania, Melbourne and Sydney twice each, because of my Dad’s job. Travel is also a big part of my life because I don’t have any extended family in Australia. So, in the Christmas and/or June, July holiday we usually go to New Zealand or Europe, to visit family, and friendship. These are all special factors that have contributed to the person I am today.
The Great Barrier Reef
In 2013/2014 my cousins, came over to Australia to spend Christmas with us. Before Christmas I had been to the doctors three times because I didn’t have any energy at all and wasn’t

Once the boat had got to a floating bouton, which was in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef. Everyone on the boat got off and fitted their snorkels. Soon after that, people started jumping off the bouton into the water. When I jumped into the water I was hit with this beautiful coral, of all different shape, sizes, and colour. Some were fluro orange or green, and some were a paisley pink or blue. All working together to make an amazing scene. Even more, hundreds of fish were swimming in between the coral, swerving in and out. Schools of tiny black fish swim beneath you at a rapid pace. This was an amazing place to start what would be an amazing jam-packed …show more content…
My friend, Claire, and I went to see the movie Jumanji. After the movie we went down, below the cinemas to have lunch at Sushi Edo. There was quite a long line to get in so Claire and I went and climbed these hexagon’s that were against the wall opposite the restaurant.
Once we were inside, we decided what we were going to have. Then order it on one of the IPad, that every table had. Out of nowhere, this strange man riding a bike, with multicolored sunglasses lenses came and leaned on the window that our table was next to. Claire and I just stared at each other, not knowing if he could see us. After about a minute, he rode off again. We think that he was just catching his breath, but I guess we’ll never know.
Towards the end of the meal, Claire and her Dad dared me to have a big chunk of wasabi on my sushi. Her Dad took out his phone, and filmed me while I ate the wasabi sushi. After about a second of it being in my mouth the strong taste of the wasabi hit me. My face went a cherry red, while I searched the table for some water. Beside me, Claire was just about falling off her seat with laughter, as well as her Dad. Finally, I found a water and took a big gulp of water, then sighed with relief. That video has now been shared with friends and family, every time I see it, I still can’t help myself but
A planned multi-million-dollar offshore aquarium off of Granite Island is being fast tracked with hopes of reviving the tourism region at Victor Harbor (ABC, 2015). While it is early days in the proposal, there is an air of confidence that the plan will precede if the community accepts the idea (Simmons, 2015). What impact will the proposed underwater observatory have on Victor Harbor? To assist with the research Simone from the Port Lincoln Swim with the Tuna observatory was contacted as well as Oceanic Victor and an interview was held with Ian Milne, the marine biology teacher at Victor Harbor High School. Research was also conducted at Granite Island.
I did not see any dolphins in the morning but my grandparents told me that we were going to go see some dolphins on a dolphin cruise. Because Gulf Shores is on the Gulf of Mexico dolphins like to ride the waves when boats go out. We drove to the dolphin cruise place and we got on the boat. There were lots of old people on the boat. My sisters and I were the only kids on the boat.
Fish that were orange and yellow, red and white, purple, blue, and greenish-blue. Beautiful sparkling rocks that shimmered under the sun light. I Felt like I was one of the characters on “Finding
Swimming throughout all the caves, created by the giant rocks found along the shore, and looking at the ocean floor, watching all of the tropical fish swim around you. From the bright blue fish to the long gray ones, you can see the schools of fish swim right under you, or even the occasional sting ray or turtle hiding under a rock. As I swam around a rock, as far as the eye could see there were hundreds of fish swimming with their schools, darting back and forth, trying to avoid the chaos of the open waters. As the fish dart around, the sunlight shining through the water reflects beams of light in all
The reefs are scattered all over the Keys it’s just about finding a spot that you can enjoy. This was my favorite part of the trip as I was able to see beautiful reefs that many don’t get to experience. These reefs were full of bright colors and were home to very unique organisms. I was able to take awesome pictures and snorkel all through the reefs. This was awesome because I was able to enjoy a special moment with
As a student, I have grown in my skills for academic success by having to write an essay in my Honors English class. We’ve recently finished reading the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and were told to write an essay about one of the given prompts. Before having to write this essay, I was struggling with the type of vocabulary and perspective, which was third-person, I was supposed to use. I had to find the right quotes from the book and explain in detail how they support the prompt, I felt that was the hardest for me. The words “I” or “me” weren’t allowed in the essay, unless they were in quotes.
The research team went off and did there thing, so I was left to my own to explore. The moment I got down the reef my heart sank. Everything was just white and lifeless, the complete opposite of what I had seen before. The underwater city that used to be there was gone, instead it was like a massive ghost town. All the colorful corals that once blew my mind away were dead.
The breathtaking colors and magnificent fins of these elegant creatures combine to produce a marvelous visual effect that is hard to equal in the underwater world-and indeed even above ground! Almost every color of the spectrum is well represented in the appearance of these fishes ranging from solid greens, to stunning reds with green accents on the fins, to golden yellows, to majestic turquoise and marble striped beauties... the range is virtually endless and you would be extremely hard pressed to find any two of these fishes that look exactly alike. Far beyond any physical beauty, no matter how awesome and spectacular
Everybody knows that there are four seasons, and everyone has their favorite one out of all of them. Mine is when the woods turns into a coloring book of orange and red, when I put a nice warm batch of hot co-co on the stove, and were all of my family comes together every year. My favorite season is fall. My favorite hobby is hunting.
The sea I have always liked watching appa and his friends taking out the day’s catch from the net. It was something very exciting to me; there was always something new that I found. Either a fish that I had not seen before, or some interesting coral rock, or some drift wood. When I found a drift wood it always made me wonder about how it got here. From where did its journey begin?
Eek! A shrill sounded through the air. Everyone turned to look at what the commotion was right as the camera snapped the photo. As I looked to the right, I saw my brother, Zak was the one who screamed and there was something emerging from out of the shell that he was holding. In June of 2013, my family had decided we were going to St. Petersburg, Florida for vacation.
I off my raft and to my surprise, it was as if the water was a sponge. I was very awed and started traversing my way to the middle palace, eating the exotic fruits on my way there. The fruits tasted like a mixture of all the fruits I have ever had before but it still tasted amazing. I saw all kinds of trees, even trees that I didn’t recognize, miniscule, large, and different shapes.
You take a huge breath in your scuba mask. You dive into the water you, open your eyes. It’s all bright and colorful. You see multiple animals. There is some that are ugly but you see the most beautiful fish.
But here I was, stuck in this futile office that reeked of latex and Lysol. Neglecting to listen to the receptionist and my mom engaging in small talk, I notice an archaic T.V showing a documentary of sea life darting in-between vibrant pieces of coral; the only viewers were the hard, plastic, waiting
Our groups best find was a couple of brittle stars, other teams found giant hermit crabs, sea slugs, and sea urchins. The most interesting animal was a large red starfish the staff members found previously, which I held. It was a bit larger than both of my hands put together, and was rough to the touch. After holding the starfish, I moved on to other sea creatures, each one more bizarre and attention grabbing than the last. At one point I actually kissed a sea cucumber (it’s said to bring good luck), which turned out to creepy and uncomfortable as I
