The Ohio Constitution complements the federal structure of government in the United States very well. Both the Ohio Constitution and US Constitution share very similar structures, powers, and relationships. This should be no surprise as state and federal governments are ran somewhat similarly. The basic principle of federalism expresses that there is a system of government in which the powers of government are divided between a central government and several local governments. The US Constitution represents central or federal government, and the Ohio Constitution represents local or state government.
The American government that we know today, had many troubles when it first came together when the Constitution was first ratified in 1788. There had been many failed attempts at creating a new and successful government, such as the Articles of Confederation the first plan for the new American government. This proved to be very unsuccessful because the states held all federal power, while the national government had very little. In order to please both the Federalists and the Anti-Federalist, each party agreed to the Constitution with the addition of the Bill of Rights. Documents like the Virginia Declaration of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, and the above documents are heavily influenced by the writings of John Locke, Baron de Montesquieu,
After the Glorious Revolution there were many similarities to our current government today and during colonial times. Although, before the Glorious Revolution it was significantly different. Some of the similarities included a bicameral form of government and how the colonies would run their own affairs. Some of the differences between then and now include the amount of power appointed to one person and how a law was made.
“Protecting the rights of even the least individual among us is basically the only excuse the government has for even existing.” -Ronald Reagan
The similarities between both the US and GA constitution is they have a two-house legislature; the Senate and House of Representatives. They have three branches the Executive, Judicial, and Legislature branches. The head of the executive branch serves four-year terms, but can serve only t wo year terms consecutively. The head of the executive branch is elected by the people. All three of the branches are elected the same way; by the people.
Additionally, for the most part, Canada’s legislative body has several similarities and differences with the United States’ Congress. In the United States, Congress is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Similarly, Canada’s Parliament is also made up of a bicameral legislature: the House of Commons and the Senate (Courthouse Libraries BC). In general, both legislatures in both countries have the ability to amend, repeal, and make new laws. And in order to do so, both have individual committees within the branches, in which they undergo several reading and deliberation phases for approval and assurances. All bills must also pass through both Houses in both countries as well. In Canada, the next step is for bills to receive assent by
The federalists and Democratic-Republicans are like K-State and KU; they both don’t agree on everything. They were the first political parties. Both the Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans didn’t listen to George Washington’s advice and they made separate parties. This caused conflict within the government when they couldn’t decide.
Our government today has its similarities and differences from our government back in the colonial times. Back during the period of time 1630-1770s the colonies had a lawmaking body referred to as Parliament. The Parliament they had is similar to our today, they’re similar because they both make laws. The Parliament is a bicameral legislature, meaning that it is made up of 2 houses. This relates to our government as well because in our legislative branch it has two houses: House of Representatives and the Senate. Unlike the two names we call both of the houses, back then they used to be the “Houses of Burgesses” and the “Council of State.” During the colonial times, often times the colonists didn’t have the right to elect their representatives.
The U.S is a republic, whereas Australia is a constitutional monarchy (Where the Queen acts as head of state). The U.S president is both head of state and head of government and is directly elected by the people. Australia’s head of state is the British monarch who is represented by a Governor-General chosen by the Prime Minister.
The systems of government used by both Canada and the United states are fueled upon the political system of democracy. According to Greenberg and Page, democracy is a form of government where the people play the vital role in operations. In other words, the people have equal opportunities to carry out roles in important policy making decisions. (Franks 42) Although many countries have democratic methods, the way they function and design their policies differ in various ways. For instance, Canada has constitutional monarchies while the US has republic democracies. Both countries run democratic governments, but the United States government appears to be much more democratic than Canada.
The President of America is frequently referred to as the world’s most powerful person. However, the federals structure of America has put restraints on the power of the President that do not occur in Australia, which is led by a Prime Minister. Governments have multiple structures and within these different structures, are equally as many heads of states. Democracy and Republic represent the majority of governments around the world with Australia and the United States of America are prime examples (Andeweg,1999). Australia uses a democracy while the United States is an example of a republic. Contrasting governments means that each one has a different leader a Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, for Australia and a President, Donald Trump, for the United States. By examining the differences within the offices of the Prime Minister and the President such as how the election process works, the jobs each respective office is responsible and even within the men who hold each office and their policies, With such differences in the countries from how they were founded to their differences today, I predict there will be very few similarities.
Some of America’s most formative years as a nation were in the very beginning of its independence. These developmental years were shortly after the Revolutionary War in the late 1780s. Some of the most important people in this time were Noah Webster, Andrew Jackson, James Monroe, and the original founding fathers. Americans were successful in developing a unique political, cultural, and economic identity separate from Britain in the years following the Revolutionary War.
The United States Government is a government formed and influenced off of other successful governments, the Roman Republic being one of them. While the Roman Republic and our current United States Government have many similarities, they also have many differences. One example of a similarity is how the government was
Every place in this world has a set of laws that are to be followed by its citizens, these protect and punish people. Laws vary from country to country, and the type of laws created and executed can depend on the type of government that rules that country. There are similarities and differences between many systems of governments. A system of government refers to the way in which a nation or country is managed. Two countries that share both similarities and differences between their systems of governance are Australia and Mongolia.
Did Rome have a negative or positive impact on the world? Rome had a very positive impact. Rome is all around today.
