American, Asian, Russian, Mexican; we all belong to an ethnic group. While some let their culture and ethnic background define them others allow it to shape your life. Growing up, my parents didn’t speak much English, so my sister and I had to step up as the family translator. Speaking Spanish is important to my family in many ways, not only is it a way for us to communicate with our family in Mexico, but also a reminder of where we come from.

Vikki Ruiz specifically mentions this process, stating “Students also became familiar with U.S. history and holidays” (Ruiz, p.266). this is portrayed when Antonio talks about one learning English only after going to school. What Are the Advantages of Bilingual Educational Programs and Bilingualism? It is difficult for me to write this from the point of view of an educator in the United States. I am presently at the end of my second year of teaching and also my second year at a totally bilingual school that teaches in both Spanish and English. My opinions and reflections on my literature reviews may be affected by my teaching here in Mexico, vs. teaching ESL students who are immigrants located in the USA. Bilingual education programs are not only dual-language programs designed to provide an equal education to students learning English in the USA.
It’s also important to note that 79.9% and 78.6% of fathers and mothers respectively were born in Mexico and lived on average of 15 and 12.3 in the United states for fathers and mothers respectively.According to the conductors of this study, Mexican Americans are more likely to have two-parent families which is why the researchers study two-parent Mexican American families. The researchers then analyze the parenting using a person-centered approach to discover which “unique variable patterns” appear naturally instead of the traditional parenting styles. Some education solutions are Dream Act, DACA, and recently they have added DAPA. These programs are here to help young adults go to college and get a degree in what they want to be when they grow up, these programs are both for young adults and adults who want to go to school. The president has been trying to pass the Immigration Reform Act to help immigrants and stop some of the deportation, but hasn’t really succeed in that. For many, including Donald Trump, deporting all of the 12 million immigrants and build a wall, which Mexico will be paying for, is the best solution to all of the immigration problems. They have come up with many good solutions that helps immigrants in their stay here in the United States, and many more that they have come up with but can’t get it to pass through congress because there are many people that do not want them
My long term career and educational goals are to graduate from college with a double major in Spanish and Piano Pedagogy with a 3.9 GPA. I would like to open a private piano studio and tutor Spanish. I also hope to be able to teach English as a second language to Latinos and Hispanics in my community. To reach my longer term goals I first of all need to decide which college I will go to! When I get to college I need to do what I did for my shorter term goals - budget my time and be responsible.
