Developing countries, such as Ethiopia, are not yet advanced agriculturally and economically. Developed countries, such as Australia, are economically, agriculturally and technologically advanced. This booklet focuses on the health status of Australian children and children from the developing country Ethiopia. In Australia, the literacy rate rank is #36 out of 215 countries. There is a rather large difference between the two countries. Ethiopia’s education level is quite low, whereas Australia’s is high. The Australian and Ethiopian education systems have similar and different regulations.
In Ethiopia, all children are desperate to join school. With inadequate health care services, many children die before reaching the age of 5. Only a fraction of those who survive attend school if they can afford to go or afford the equipment. Only 55% of Ethiopian children complete primary school. School enrolment starts at the age of 7, but as age in Ethiopia is often assessed by teeth and height, some children start earlier. Starting primary school at a later age could affect their learning development.
Australian schools offer many opportunities and a variety of subjects. Primary school starts around the age of 5. Teachers have assistants to enable them to care and teach disabled children in public and private schools. Some schools provide equipment for the disabled, enhancing their development. This determinant is dictated by the food supply in a household, community or country, and by people having the resources and skills to access and use that food. Access to nutritious food and food choice is influenced by the social, economic and environmental conditions where people live. Insecurity of food is the insufficient quantity of food,

Poverty is so deep that 15 millions people in Ethiopia have no food security, 6 million live on foreign food aid and millions of families cannot eat 3 meals a day. The amount of Ethiopian children who are undernourished is 29.00%. Whereas in Australia 15% of children are undernourished. These children suffer starvation and malnutrition regularly by not having a healthy diet of 3 appropriate meals a day due to the lack of money and the unavailability of food and clean water. Malnutrition is detrimental to the health and development of children. Malnourished children can experience death, development delay and diseases. They may undergo growth, immune and cognitive implications. The child’s bones can soften, which makes them weak, easier to break and they can stop growing. It lowers their immune system, which makes them prone to
Prior to the 1900s there was no country known as Australia which held the six states together united as one country. Instead there were six colonies of New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, and Western Australia that existed on the Australian continent as separate countries, also including Tasmania, the island colony. It was also governed as separate countries by Britain given that Australia was still under the rule of the British Empire. Initially there was absolutely no interest what so ever of a federation uniting Australia as one because each colony was interested in being responsible for their own economic interest and couldn’t come to an agreement. However due to many factors such as attaining a united defence to have
The Melbourne declaration is a policy document that develops by the states and territory education minister and the federal education ministers. The declarations are published in December 2008, follow by the 1989 Hobart Declaration and 1999 Adelaide declarations. The major change of the declaration is the demand of Australian education system including the server area that significantly need to improve and it also designed to support the 21-century learning (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, 2013). Good nutrition is a core component for the survival of any population facing a humanitarian emergency. This fact is emphasized by the alarming number of deaths that result from malnutrition. Fifty percent of children’s deaths in the North-eastern part of Nigeria are caused by malnutrition following the insurgency. The reality of this crisis has influenced my interest to seek the knowledge and skills required to provide nutritional support services through the Tiffany Amber Women of Vision IDP Relief Fund. This initiative targeted at managing malnutrition among children in internally displaced persons’ camps and communities.
In terms of size, shape and location, Australia is unique in every aspect. This is due to the fact that Australia was cut off and isolated from the other world’s landmasses in accordance to the theory of the Continental Drift which has lead to Australia drifting off further, and as of now, resides in the Southern Hemisphere, Oceania, 35.3080° S, 149.1245° E surrounded by Indian and Pacific oceans and lying in the Indo-Australian plate. Because of its location and size, Australia is known to be an island, country and continent. With a total area of 7.692 million square kilometres, Australia is the 6th largest country on earth, yet the smallest
The President of America is frequently referred to as the world’s most powerful person. However, the federals structure of America has put restraints on the power of the President that do not occur in Australia, which is led by a Prime Minister. Governments have multiple structures and within these different structures, are equally as many heads of states. Democracy and Republic represent the majority of governments around the world with Australia and the United States of America are prime examples (Andeweg,1999). Australia uses a democracy while the United States is an example of a republic.
Australia is located southeast of Asia, and this affects its trade, making it a major trading partner of Australia. When “Gallopade” says “Australia is surrounded on all sides by water,” I know that most people live along the south east coast as central Australia is too harsh.
In the United States there are many children and adults that go hungry, due to financial problems. With the economy and how high cost of living is, it’s hard to provide, food for the family. The results of hunger on children in America are not having the right nutrition, can have serious implication for a child’s physical and mental health. Also food insecurity is harmful to all people, but it is particularly devastating to children.
Australia is the only country in the world that is additionally the oldest continent of them all. This country/continent is known for it’s animals, landmarks, and monuments such as the Great Barrier Reef, the Sydney Opera House, the Outback, kangaroos, etc. The indigenous people of Australia are known to have the longest continuous history of any group of humans. Not only is Australia a democracy, but it has a queen, a parliament system, and more as well. Australia additionally have a very open market with minimal restrictions on imports of goods and services.
This all depends on your occupation and which company you work for, and how much their hourly rate is. Australia has a population of 22.6 million people, with around 5.9 million visitors per year. Their average yearly income per person is $31,197, which is only a little bit more than people get paid in the Bahamas. Like most people say, money does not buy happiness.
Parizad Batty-Avari EYE11-4.1 Explain the impacts of poor diet on children's health and development Nutritious food is of paramount importance for a healthy mind and body. Childhood is a time of critical growth in which proper nutrition is absolutely necessary. Children who have poor diets either due of a lack of food or because of bad eating habits and patterns, leads to inadequate intake of nutrients and are prone to significant short-term and long-term health impacts and diseases. Short-term impact on children’s health:
The first time they are introduced to a formal education is in a school building. The school system lays out a foundation that develops a child 's mind, nurtures their gifts and teaches about responsibility. These key factors set up a child to become successful and soar high in life because they have learned the basis to society. Children from disadvantaged backgrounds are forced to abandon their education due to health problems related to malnutrition, or work to provide support for their family. In some third world countries the lack of education is scarce and not valued as much.
There are many other programs for children such as the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program listed in the article Childhood Food Insecurity in the U.S.: Trends, Causes, and Policy Options. Programs such as these, help provide children with free meals during school. Although some of the food is quite healthy, children have access to food which might be the case at home. Other factors that can lead children to be food insecure are having a parent(s) with disabilities, immigrant, and/or incarcerated.
On the site, http://www.fawe.org/about/work/education/, it states that millions and millions of children in Africa are yet still out of school and the majority of them are girls. 47 percent of out-of-school children worldwide, with 54 percent of those children of girls. In the year 2006, one-third of the school-age/35 million children were not enrolled in school. Gender disparities, which are gender inequalities, mostly occurred in rural areas and among poor households. In secondary schools, which are middles schools and junior high schools that straddle primary and secondary education, only have 30 percent of boys and 25 percent of girls enrolled in schools.
Do you ever think about the millions of families and kids that suffer from not being able to have food? You should be very grateful if you have a family to provide food for you because not every kid does. Hunger is a term which has three meanings: •The uneasy or painful sensation caused by the want of food; craving appetite. Also, the exhausted condition caused by the want of food.
According to the royal society, between1930 and 2010 the world’s population grew from 2 billion to 6.8 billion ,so the Continuing population causes a consumption growth and that means the global demand will increase over the next years and growing competition for land, water and energy will increase too(Black, 2010). Growth of population will affect on some countries ability to produce food especially in the poor developing countries, so improved nutrition is central to improved income generation, poverty reduction, and provide a good food quality. Lack of food quality has an impact on mother’s nourishment because they are more likely to give a birth, so mothers which are malnourished later will give birth of babies with a less healthier, growth retardation are associated with reduced physical activity, impairment of
