Wiglaf knows his place as warriors and the rules that come with it. He sets foot into the Dragons’ lair and starts battling with the dragon. Wiglaf fearless and courageous, just as young and even old Beowulf, defeated the dragon and avenged his king. The relation between young Beowulf and young Wiglaf is that they both share the same aspects such as being fearless, having courage, and being selfless. They’re mentality is of protecting their king rather than themselves and of avenging their kings death no matter the situation.
When Beowulf battles the almighty dragon, “No help or backing was to be had then/from his high-born comrades; that hand-picked troop/broke ranks and ran for their lives/to the safety of the wood. But within one heart/sorrow welled up: in a man of worth/the claims of kinship cannot be denied./His name was Wiglaf, a son of Weohstan’s” (Heaney 2596-2602). This replacement of Beowulf is not only a paramount figure as Wiglaf is one of the greatest allies Beowulf could ask for. A relatable example to further commentate on this topic is the character Harry Potter’s two allies Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley as they continuously help and save each other similar to Wiglaf and Beowulf (Rowling).
The theme in Dragon Slayer: The Tales of Beowulf is Loyalty. For example, When all hope was loss, when the blood came flowing from the water Beowulf's sword brothers stayed with all the hope they had left was that there fellow sword brother had won the gruesome fight, against the black hearted sea hag. For this reason This shows loyalty. Another example of loyalty was when Wiglaf risked his life against the fierce and the vicious dragon to save his king this shows an act of loyalty throughout the book there are many examples of Loyalty.
At this point in the story, Beowulf has taken on the role as king. He now has a large responsibility to protect his people. Now, whether he wants to or not, Beowulf must live up to his reputation to protect his own people. He has no other choice but to fight the dragon that has invaded his land. Courage is not simply defined by a definition. Each person defines courage in their own way. What is courageous to one person may not seem courageous to another person. One interprets courage in their own ways because of how they were raised or their moral values. In each of the three novels, courage is demonstrated in many different ways.
While Beowulf has lived a long, successful life and although he has plenty of men to send off to the fight the dragon, he decides to fight the dragon himself and risk the safety of his people for the chance at one more shot at old times. Despite the narrator’s positive portrayal of him in the earlier parts of the poem, in this scene, readers must weigh Beowulf’s ego against his kingly duty as a protector. His men do not support the unnecessary risk Beowulf takes, and the venture ends in his death. While it is clear that Beowulf’s men betrayed their pledged loyalty to Beowulf by fleeing, Beowulf arguably enacts a similar betrayal in his pursuit of another accomplishment at the expense of the Geats he was supposed to
In Mascot and Flower off the Bloom, the narrators informs the reader how society influenced the development of their identity in a detrimental way and stripped them of their humanity by forcing them to change. The narrator of Mascot, Malcolm X grew up desiring to be like Joe Louis, the heavy weight champion of the world at that time because he was the source of pride and received respect from everyone. As well as that his brother, Philbert was praised “as a natural boxer”, which led him to want to follow in his brother's footsteps to receive that same recognition. However, during the boxing competition rivaling against Bill Peterson, he loses and worst of all, his younger brother Reginald's lifelong recognition for him disappears. Malcolm

My personal dragons Anyone can relate to the struggles and the conflict that Beowulf faces throughout his journey to save Hrothgar and his men. There are so many examples of good vs evil in my life and I can relate to his daily struggles as well. For example, Beowulf had to listen to Unferth, who thought completely terrible of him.
I think Odysseus fulfills the description of a hero. A hero is defined as a cunning, confidence, brave, determined and a strong leader. A hero risks their own lives for the well being of others. He uses his knowledge, his determination, and also his braveness to save him and his men. When the suitors plan to kill Odysseus son, Telemachas, Odysseus speaks up to his men, “Friends, have we never been in danger before this?
Though the dragon managed to kill Beowulf in time from a bite that was poisonous, one his most loyal knights slayed the dragon and after retrieving the treasure he kept it hidden. Beowulf tells Wiglaf to build him barrow where people will remember him by. He was one of the bravest knights putting himself in danger over people he didn 't know, and later honoring his word to the king. In each battle he fought he made things as equal for his opponent as himself. He was the true meaning of a chivalric Knight.

One important similarity is that Ender fights his way to command the Dragon Army and no one is able to stop it. Another similarity is that Ender kills the buggers but then feels great remorse. One last similarity that was noticed is that Mazer treats Ender as if Ender is going to be the commander that saves the humans. Mazer takes Ender under his wing and gives Ender the wisdom and tips he needs to be the most successful recruit in battle school. These similarities worked well because they were necessary for a good
