The similarities between two legendary icons, William Wallace and Beowulf. These heroes are celebrated for their heroism, bravery, and determination in extremely hard times. Their stories have been passed down through different traditions and have inspired countless varieties of books, movies, and stories. These two stories have kept relevance and are still being told hundreds of years later by people all over the world. It may not seem like they are similar, but taking a closer look, the stories are similar in more ways than one. A major similarity between Beowulf and William Wallace is how passionate they are to what they are fighting for. Beowulf and William both risked their lives countless times for their people. They showed no mercy when in combat, which shows how much they really cared and wanted their country safe and free. Was William Wallace a "Braveheart" or a "Blackheart"? William Wallace was born during the 1270s and died in 1306, yet he is still known as one of Scotland's greatest heroes for fighting to free Scotland from English rule. This essay will cover both "Braveheart" and "Blackheart" theories but eventually come to the conclusion that he is both. Wallace could be considered to be a "Blackheart" as he showed signs of cruelty. An example of his cruelty was when he attacked North England, he and his army marched through several villages and slaughtered innocent people including woman, children, monks and nuns.
Beowulf and Gilgamesh compare and differ greatly in the epic hero texts. This shows many traits that shape the two epics into what is the same and different. The main reasons that compare and contrast the epics is leadership, culture, and the journey. The monsters is a big part of the epics as well because it shows how they deal with them. Like how Beowulf's monsters terrorize him, and Gilgamesh was out to get the monsters.

Compare/Contrast Essay Beowulf is an epic hero, who is a strong and powerful man who comes from Sweden to Denmark to help a village that is being attacked by a man-eating monster named Grendel. The first similarity between Beowulf and King Arthur are that they are both very brave. Beowulf traveled all the way to Denmark after hearing the plight their people were going through. He didn’t even know anything other than what he was told. As if that wasn’t brave Beowulf went on to never back down from any monster whether it be Grendel, Grendel's mother, or the dragon he didn’t ever run from a fight.
