Chapter -1 Introduction Pannalal and Bronte 1.1 Survey of literary Background The present investigation purpose to analysis of the comparative similarity between the two novels, Malela Jiv and Wuthering Heights. The depiction of tradition in both works is highlighted, concentrating on different social institutions such as caste, marriage, family and also on the social status of women. The novels are home to several ethic groups, tribes, caste, religions, and social status. The caste and social status in each characters relate to each other through a permanent hierarchical structure, with each characters having its own caste and social status and its having its own name, tradition, occupation, rank, and distinctive subculture. Characters ethnic groups usually do not have a caste hierarchy but often have their own internal hierarchical society. The aim of the dissertation is to reveal whether the similar effect of socio-cultural dimension employed by these authors contributes to the existence of similarities between the protagonists of these novels. It is a fact that the protagonist Kanji and Heathcliff, do not belong to the same culture and social class.
