The battle of heros. (Spider-Man/ Peter Parker And Odysseus)
Spider-Man Is smart strong and has great motives. The same goes with Odysseus. That’s why i’m comparing them. To see that they have some stuff in common but not a lot. They both have motives. They both have strength and they both are smart. Spider-Man/Peter Parker a college student/ great scientist With spider instincts That increase his sense of awareness.Like in Spider-Man 1 he got bit by a spider in a science lab while on a tour with his school he then studied his powers to learn more about them. Odysseus is great at finding ways around the hardest problems.
Like when he had to escape the cave of the cyclopes, so he stabbed the cyclops in the eye and then rode the sheep out of the cave because the cyclopes could not see them on the sheep.

In Spider-Man 3 he stopped a car from falling down off from the webs that venom made he also stopped a dump truck from falling. Odysseus Is a strong man he takes down beasts I would say he is stronger in the mind than he is with strength. He took down
Spider-Man has the motive of revenge. He is out for revenge and to find the people that killed his uncle. Like in Spider-Man 3 were spider man fights sand man. Flint Marko now known as Sandman is one of the people that was involved in his uncle 's murder. Odysseus is trying to get home that 's his motive. He is trying to cross the sea while fighting monsters and sleeping with nymphs and he still is trying to return home. A journey that was supposed to
Odysseus is trying to get his family back and get rid of all his wife's suitors. Luke Skywalker from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope by George Lucas is a better epic hero than Odysseus from The Homerś The Odyssey, because Luke is more willing to risk his life for others and he is more humble than Odysseus. Luke is more willing to risk his life for others than Odysseus. When Luke, R2D2, C3P0 are attacked by Tusken Raiders, was hurt by one of the Tusken Raider.
They assume it will have no problem with them eating all of his food. So when the cyclops returns home they are shocked to discover that he in none too pleased with Odysseus . He tells the cyclops that his name is “Noman” so when Odysseus stabs him in the eye with a spear, the cyclops yells out, “Noman is hurting me!
Odysseus is the spitting image of what an ancient Greek hero would be like but in today’s society or just in general, Odysseus is not heroic. He may have super hero qualities such as extreme strength and cleverness but he doesn’t embody them the way one should. In many cases he only saves himself, he is selfish, and he isn’t humble. These reasons alone leaves me, and should leave you, to believe that Odysseus is not heroic.
He gets the Cyclop drunk, claims his name is nobody, then stabs his eye and leaves him blind. The next day, when the Cyclop open the door to let his sheep out, Odysseus and his men make a run for it. When the reach the boat Odysseus reveals his true identity and brags to the Cyclop that he got away with what he did to him. Since the Cyclops was son of Poseidon, Poseidon curses Odysseus with a bad trip home because of what he did to his son. Overall, Odysseus is arrogant, making him nt fit to be labeled as a modern
Throughout the story, Odysseus demonstrates his courage that ultimately allows him to survive. One of these moments was during his journey back to Ithaca, where he faces a race of man eating giants called the Cyclops. Odysseus originally stops his ship there to relish a feast while on his journey back to Ithaca, but while doing so, out of curiosity explores the island. Soon, he finds a deserted house and decides to wait of the owner. The owner was unknowingly one the Cyclops, named Polyphemus.
Odysseus is not a hero because he stabs Polyphemus in the eye and blinds him. Odysseus is still a hero because he is a leader. Moreover, after Odysseus and his men fight the Cicones, he orders ¨Back and Quickly! Out to sea again!” (Homer 984).
His first trait is being exceptionally skilled continued with cleverness and bravery. Despite Odysseus’s challenges he proves himself a hero because of the actions that show him as skilled, clever and brave. Odysseus is exceptionally skilled in many ways aiding him from each challenge to the next. When Odysseus is trapped in the cave with the Cyclops he decides to us his skills to make a stake to blind the monster, “[He] hewed [the stake] again to make a stake with a point at the end.” (Homer.
Perseus lives to have a family and become immortalized. Spider-Man likes to live in the moment. Odysseus never wanted to go to war and leave his family. Peter Parker did not ask to be bit by the spider and become Spider-Man. “Odysseus is also known for being wise and clever he is loved and respected by many who know him when acting on his concerns for others he uses his courage and brain power before fighting”().
Superman also has limitless speed, nigh-invulnerability, heat vision, flight, and freeze-breath to defeat all of his foes. Superman is a hero because of the multiple lives he has saved. Odysseus is only a hero because, according to Homer, he was loyal, compassionate, and cunning. Superman was all those except he saved multiple lives while expressing those traits. Some may say Odysseus is the ideal hero.
Odysseus portrays those three heroic traits throughout his voyage home to Ithaca, which is why he is a hero. Odysseus is highly dedicated to his reputation and ego for the whole of his rocky and treacherous journey. From going up against a cyclops that is five times the size of him, to placing wax upon his crewmates’ ears to mute the singing of the Sirens, Odysseus is brave when he faces his fears and intelligent when he creates lifesaving tools from ship materials. A modern hero can be someone who saves a life or even sacrifices his or her own for someone else. Odysseus can be compared to a modern hero because he risks his own life to protect his crewmates.
Therefore while some may think Odysseus is a modern hero, it is pertinent to recognize Odysseus’s flaws that don’t make him a modern hero. Although Odysseus was seen as a hero in ancient times, heroes are not cross cultural. His heroics do not transcend time and aren’t applicable to today's society. With his flaws, Odysseus should not be thought of as a modern hero when compared to Michelle Obama because of the different impacts they made and make on their
In these cases as well as others, the villain is humbled by his defeat by the hero as is the case with Odysseus vs the gods. Although Odysseus is considered a hero by most, he is cruel, controlled by his temper, and more similar to a villain than a hero. Odysseus goes through not a hero’s journey, but a villain’s journey. He returns humbled to his home which has been broken while he was away.
The new Marvel Movie, Black Panther, just hit the market and everyone is raving about it already. This movie hero from 2018 shares the same qualities as a hero from the Greek times; the stories of heroes use the same concepts, just with different names and settings. For example. Odysseus from Homer’s epic poem the Odyssey, shares many characteristics with the Black Panther. The major difference between the two is that Odysseus is struggling to go back home while Black Panther is struggling to save his home, but both concern the battle against injustice.
However, their character as men are not alike; Aeneas is very “duty-driven”, while Odysseus is driven mainly by his own self-interest. Virgil makes his character, Aeneas, an opposite to Odysseus in this way to express the difference between their cultures. To start, both men, Odysseus and Aeneas, are on a journey. After the war is fought and has ended, Odysseus is attempting to return
Still however the characters are very alike in both their motivations. Odysseus and Percy Jackson define as being epic heroes because of their bravery, and the strength they find within themselves. Their reaction to their world define their different values and attitudes is they start to learn about them. They find what the gods like or dislike. The relationships with their mother and wife shaped them as the men they are because they helped motivate them to do the right thing and get back to their world.
