Similarities Between To Kill A Mockingbird And Black Lives Matter

Racial injustice in To Kill a Mockingbird was malevolent due to the executing of a black man with false evidence, but today the racial injustice appears to be eliminated although it still exists. Today the legal system will not tolerate the racism like it is in the book To Kill a Mockingbird. Racism is normal in Maycomb county some support it and others are against, the Finches are high in society, although they still respect the blacks. Racial injustice throughout the book is a big factor with Calpurnia as a maid, And Atticus defending Tom Robinson, but less of a factor for everyday life in modern times.

To Kill a Mockingbird and The Help both demonstrate the hard times during the civil rights movement by showing the theme growing as a person, even though the novels have their differences throughout different perspectives. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout is talking to Atticus about why Jem is acting differently than what he used to. In the novel, it states,” Jem was twelve. He was difficult to live with, inconsistent, moody. His appetite was appalling, and he told me so many times to pestering him, I consulted Atticus: “Reckon he’s got a tapeworm?””

Evidence 1: Firstly, this idea can first be seen when Cal takes Jem and Scout to her church. When Jem,Scout,and Cal walk into the church Lula is very unwelcoming by saying ,"You ain't got no business bringing' white chillun here they go their church, we got our'n”(158 Lee).

Mr. Atticus Finch is not only an upstanding lawyer but a caring and loving role model for his children Jem and Scout. This all occurs in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. Atticus isn’t your normal Alabamian. He doesn 't believe in society 's belief that African Americans aren 't equal to whites.

In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird the author characterizes Atticus Finch with intelligence to establish a theme of social justice. Intelligence is needed in society to be able to understand the things going around in the world. Intelligence is knowing what to do is right even when people think you’re wrong.

Still in this world through some peoples eyes everyone does not look the same. If our world keeps the mindset that they are in today that word will always exist and never go away. Whether examples of racial prejudice against African-Americans or even the prejudice against Mexicans and illegal immigrants. These ways are not placed upon oppressing individuals at birth, they are placed among them by members of society and the social norms that are already in place in society.
