Imagine you are in a courtroom doing jury duty for a case. One table sits the characters from the book “The Scarlet Ibis.” Doodle and Brother sit together nervously wringing their hands together, while their mother, father, and Aunt Nicey sit in the audience directly behind them. At another table, the actors from the 1998 movie Simon Birch sit together. They sit content and ready to begin the trial. The two stories are in court to prove which was more valuable and taught better lessons. Today, I will persuade you that the movie, Simon Birch, taught more valuable lessons than “The Scarlet Ibis” through their symbolism and themes of each. In the movie Simon Birch, there are themes that consistently prove that there are more values and lessons
Stonecreek is a public middle school in the Panama Buena Vista School District, where we say, “En loco parentis”, Latin for, “In the place of the parents”. In other words, we will look after your child as if it were our own child, for the whole school day. Many believe it is impossible, with over 200 children at our school, however, what those people don’t believe, is that we have been doing this for over 8 years, and we still have taken good care of them for all these years. We rarely receive any problems with our students, and if we do, we take whatever precaution we find necessary. If you wish to hear the rules we have, and the precautions we are willing to take, meet us in our office at 8000 Akers Rd, Bakersfield, from 8:25 a.m. to 3:25
Have you ever heard of Benjamin Banneker? That's what I thought. Benjamin was a African American, who of course started his life out as a slave. If it wasn’t for Benjamin our nation's capitol wouldn’t exist. In 1753 he invented the first striking clock.
Music fanatics from all over the globe have always been on the lookout for something fresh, for someone new. Whilst the current people of mainstream music have been the same people we wanted a few months back, the feel and sound of an act that we 've never heard before would always come-off as a sweet treat. And since we have been introduced to a wide array of youngsters already, maybe it 's about time that we patronize someone more mature, or more skilled on the likes of Conrad Sewell. Hailing from the Land Down Under, Conrad Ignatius Mario Maximillian Sewell, or more popularly known as just Conrad Sewell have been dominating the airwaves since we first him in 2012. The undeniable charisma and the concept of hearing from someone 'aged ' is what sets this male singer from the existing performers now crowding the entire music scene.
Today I am honored to be standing here presenting the Conn Smythe trophy to my friend Duncan Keith. The Conn Smythe is awarded to the most valuable player during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I first heard of this tremendous defensemen back in the 2009-10 season where he helped prevail the Chicago Blackhawks to their first Stanley Cup victory since 1961. It seems like Duncan never has a bad season and makes very few mistakes on the ice. The amount of time he puts into this game really shows his dedication and love for hockey.
“I hereby order you serve a maximum 34 months in Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution” the judge told Deshawn before quickly spinning around his chair, standing up and walking through what seemed to be an invisible door behind him. When it shut it blended rightwith the wall. See, Deshawn was a good friend of mine, more like a brother, and was getting sentenced for operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, which was stealing a car. He was never a violent criminal like all our other friends grew to be, just a bad kid. At least I thought.
I’m here today to support Andrew Jackson and persuade you’ll that he should be placed on the twenty-dollar bill. Jackson was the 7th president of the United States and was born near the border between South and North Carolina on March 15, 1767. Jackson was the third child his parents had. His father, Andrew, passed on as the aftereffect of a logging incident only a couple of weeks before the future president was conceived while both of parents were Scotch-Irish immigrants. Jackson was known to be the first “self-made man.”
This story tugs at heart strings and leaves the question, “Who wrote these unsettling events?” In “The Scarlet Ibis,” there are many highs and lows. A boy struggles with acceptance of his brother. To the boy, his brother is about half of what he should be. The boy believes this problem is his duty to fix.
My wife Clementine decided we need these journals to document what we see on our travels to Oregon next month, however I honestly think they are a waste of time. At least little Brooke enjoys it. On her 6th birthday last year we got her a notebook that she 's been writing in so I think she 's ready for these journals. I remember three years ago when Clementine was 18 we would go on walks around our little town of bloomesdale. I shore do miss those times, but we haven 't gone on many walks since then, because she 's been cross with me about overruling her vote to go to Oregon.
The fight for change never stops within one generation. As Baldwin concludes, “In this long battle, a battle by no means finished,” Change must be passed down to the future generation to let them know their existence is accepted in the world. As you get older I wish that you become more culturally aware. That everyone's viewpoint doesn't have to align with yourself. Not everyone can be the same, neither can their identity.
In the movie SImon Birch there were many lessons you could have taken away. A lot of people took a lot of different views from the movie as well. It really all plays out in someone’s head in different ways depending on your belief for Christ. The way I took the movie is a miracle through Christ. There are three main lessons in the movie.

The script introduces the viewers to the typical behavior and the state of mind of these jurors, who surprisingly turn out to be the last to change their opinions from “guilty” to “not guilty”. Juror#3 the frustrated father whose personal conflicts and experiences influence his view of the accused’s crime is very desperate to make it clear that his mind is already made up before the deliberations even start. Though many people think that emotion helps make rational resolutions, often times it hurts one’s ability to do so. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Scout, the protagonist, and her family discover the need for logic when her father takes an important court case. Sadly, most of the people of Maycomb in the 1930s became corrupt because they do not use rationality in their lives. Throughout the novel, Scout and the reader both learn that one should not let their emotions rule their reason when making decisions. Even before the court case began, Scout learns about the recurring theme of logic being more effective than her feelings when forming opinions of others and in communicating.
How Simon Sinek Persuade Audiences that the Secret to Success is a Reason Why In the TED talk, How Great Leaders Inspire Action, the presenter, Simon Sinek, a “leadership expert,” claims that all great leaders and innovators have one thing in common, they all have a reason why they do what they do. He convinces the audience that his claim is correct through a relatively balanced use of the three Aristotelian appeals: pathos, logos, and ethos. He gives specific facts and examples, to show his audience how his claim has worked for history’s greatest individuals and organizations. Finally, he uses rhetorical devices such as amplification and parallelism to strengthen his argument.
