In 1978, Simon Nelson of Rockford, IL brutally beat his wife to the brink of death while also murdering his six children and pet dachshund. Where did this animalistic rage come from? Nelson and his wife Ann had been experiencing some marital issues. Ann was discontent with Simon’s drinking habits as well as his sloppy overweight appearance. Simon tried to appease Ann’s discontent by joining a local fitness program, shaving off his beard, and even trying harder at work. Despite all his new life habits, Nelson found out that Ann had full intentions to file for divorce. This news devastated Simon. His family was his purpose for life. Nelson went to a hotel Ann was staying at to try and work his marriage out. When things began to lead nowhere, Simon went home and murdered his six children and the family dog. The arrangement of the article itself was hard to follow at times. It was all over the place, talking about multiple things at once that did not correlate with the topic of the paragraph. But, for the most part, I was able to understand it.

The river serves as a good source of drinking water and hydroelectric power. The Supreme Court of the United States of America in 2012 ruled that juveniles couldn’t be tried as juveniles and be sentenced to life without the possibility of bail, no matter how harsh the nature of the crime committed. Justice Elena Kagan argues that juveniles who commit crimes typically have a rough upbringing or unfortunate circumstances which cannot be controlled by the juvenile. She argues that if they are serving a life in prison without a chance of parole, it causes damage to them psychologically due to the lack of experiences.
