1) What was the Iroquois Confederacy? Who came up with the idea and why was it made? The Iroquois Confederacy was formed in the 1570. The confederacy was a cultural and political union of five native American tribes or "The League of Five Nations" that resided along the Hudson River shores hunting and fishing for thousands of years. The Iroquois Confederacy was made up of the Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, and Mohawk peoples.

The Chinook Indians were a tribe of Native Americans who lived in the Pacific Northwest. They lived along the coast of what is now Oregon and Washington State. The men used bow and arrows for hunting elk, deer and sea mammals. The women gathered other food such as shellfish, clams, roots and berries. The Chinook were very skilled traders.

Lakota Language Introduction Lakota is a Siouan language which is spoken by its people (Lakota people) who belong to the Sioux tribes. It is one of the dialects of the Sioux language apart from Dakota and Nakota (Powers, 2009). Sioux is spoken by more than 30,000 people in the US and Canada and is therefore positioned at number five amongst the most spoken native languages in the United States. Lakota is one of the three major regional varieties comprising of Western Dakota and Eastern Dakota. Western Dakota also known as Yankton-Yanktonai is at the middle of Eastern Dakota and Lakota.
The Sioux Indians were allied with many Native Americans during the civil war period. The Lakota tribes, which are apart of the total Sioux population, attacked the settlers and emigrants moving into the land forcing America to respond. America responded by sending an army to Lakota killing many women, men, and children. A series of short followed these attacks, which led the Sioux to flee west to their allies in Montana and the Dakota Territory. This action increased illegal settlement after the civil war, which led to another war shortly.
The Sioux Wars were caused by a group of native Americans, who refused to be relocated in reservations. The battle took place when Custer, with the 7th Cavalry Regiment, go for a patrol along the the little bighorn river. The little bighorn river is a tributary of the Bighorn river and 138-miles long. At this river was beside the battle of the little bighorn also the battle of Crow Agency in 1887. On his way he saw a big group of native Americans, which were out of their reservations and he decided to attack them and force them back into their reservations.

The name “Sioux” is short for “Nadouessioux”, meaning “little snakes”, given to them by their spiteful long time rival the Ojibwa tribe. The Sioux community was divided into a organized nation of seven different, smaller tribes; later becoming known as: Oceti Sakowin, which translates into “Seven Council Fire” in the Sioux indigenous language.
