The Sioux are groups of Native American Indians and are tribe people in North America. They have three main languages those are Lakota, Dakota, Nakota. They lived in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and in Iowa. The ones that survived they live in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota and Montana.

The people of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Nation are often called Sioux. "They are the members of the Dakota and Lakota Nations. “Dakota” and “Lakota” mean “friend” or “allies”. The term “Sioux”, dates back to the seventeenth century when some of the Dakota people were living in the Great Lakes area." They got into a fight with another tribe and was forced away from their homeland and started trading to survive.
