Sissy Hofaker is a sophomore theatre major at Flagler College, with a focus in musical theatre. Her previous productions include Emotional Creature, Spitfire Grill, Cowboy Mouth, and, The Maids. She is very passionate about her work with children through theatre as a member of Theatre on a Mission, through which she has helped bring theatre camps to orphans in Bondo Kenya. She is very excited to join the cast of Spring Awakening for this amazing collaborative effort. She would like to thank her cast and crew, her family and her friends for their constabt love and support.
Having a best friend is something that every person requires. They can help you out when in trouble or to cheer you up when feeling sad. Best friends don 't have to be perfect becuase of of them aren 't. However, Rudy was Liesel 's perfect best friend. In "The Book Theif", by Marcus Zusak, Liesel and Rudy start off with a hesitant friendship that later emerge into a strong connection.
As the Boov say, “many fingers make up a hand.” Just like this expression, Many components make up effective humor. Adam Rex, the author of the book Smek for President, shows us a perfect example of how not to use them. The tools of humor, such as tone, diction, imagery and more are present, but they don’t make you laugh. Adam Rex, as a “funny author,” leaves much to be desired in his writing.
In the game of life, sometimes people are dealt a deck of cards that start off great but end up awful. Before anyone realizes it the first part of their life is over. Then there comes a choice “what next?” “Lou Holtz once said, ‘How you response to the challenge in the second half will determine what you become after the game, whether you are a winner or a loser.’” In the book Bleachers, the main character Neely Crenshaw is dealt a deck of cards much like that. After Neely takes one hit after another, he does not know what to do until he finds himself back in his hometown for his old coach’s funeral.
“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.” ~Plato. In The Chosen by Chaim Potok, every character fights their own battle, whether large or small. Few characters in this novel show compassion towards other ’s suffering with more difficult struggles.
"Any glimpse into the life of an animal quickens our own and makes it so much the larger and better in every way”-John Muir. Evidence from Hoot, Temple, and research shows that people can improve their lives through interacting and observing animals, because animals comfort autistic children, help you make new friends, and help you go out of your comfort zone. In the novel Hoot Roy's life improves because of the owls. Temple Grandin has an amazing story, if it weren't for animals she wouldn't be able to do what she can today. Dogs help autistic children feel safe.
Jeremy Fink has a big fear of change. This shows that he doesn’t really like to try new things and he is not really a risk taker. Jeremy, a 12 year old, has been living without his father for five years now and that has been tough on him. That is one of the reasons he doesn’t like change, because the biggest change he can remember is living without his father. Another example is Jeremy’s food choice.
A Character profile of Honey West in "Honey West: This Girl For Hire" by G.G. Fickling Personality: Honey West’s personality is a highly socially interactive woman that has exploits her sexual prowess as a means of gathering information from her clients and potential suspects. More so, West is an intelligent woman that is capable of solving problems with logic and reasoning. These personality factors define the sexual active and highly motivated social acumen that West utilizes as a private investigator working out of Hollywood. Honey West has many of the traits of a “protector”, since she becomes a private investigator to seek revenge for the death of her father. West as a strong intuition about people, which allows her to manipulate them through sexuality, charisma, and guile when investigating cases for her clients.
“To be human is to be beautifully flawed. ”(Eric Wilson). All humans are flawed. That is what makes them human. Flaws sometimes are hurtful, but they make the character interesting.
The quote “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass it’s about learning how to dance in the rain” means that we should learn how to our lives even at struggling times of our lives. There are times when we are feeling down or going through tough times. Weather it’s bad grades or a tragic event. I can make a text to text connection from this quote. In the book “We Beat The Street” by George W Jenkins, Rameck Hunt, and Sampson Davis, is about a how three african americans from Newark, New Jersey became successful doctors.
A new coach to Chaska is a familiar face for girls basketball, former Chaska Athena triathlete Ellen Degler is this year’s JV girls basketball coach. Ellen Degler is a Chaska Alumni, a previous player for the Chaska Hawks girls basketball team. Her high school experience was one to remember. Degler said that she was blessed with a lot of opportunity in high school, and those opportunities brought her and her team success.
Cleaning houses are a girl’s best friend. Or is it diamonds? In The Dirt Diary, by Anna Staniszewski, the main character, Rachel Lee, must clean houses with her mother in order to pay back the money that she stole until her mom finds out about her purchase. Rachel uses the money to buy a one way ticket to Florida, where her father ran off to, to bring him home.
The tale of "Catskin", rewritten by Jacobs in the 19th century, has all the essential features to be considered a fairy tale: a good and an evil character, a life full of struggles for the protagonist, a happy ending and, most importantly, a moral lesson. The significance of "Catskin" seems to be that, although life, at times, can be dreadful, determination, perseverance and patience will eventually determine one 's success. In the tale, for example, the protagonist never capitulates, neither when she has to escape a forced marriage, nor when she lives in the castle, continually mistreated by the old cook. Eventually, though, Catskin seems to earn her happy ending thanks to her virtues and beauty. However, there is more to the story than meets
Colleen Ballinger Colleen Ballinger is an extremely pleasing personality. She is an American comedian, actress, singer and YouTube fame. Miranda Sings is her most famous Internet character. She posted videos featuring this character as well as one-woman comedy act on tour in theatres. She used it as a satire on the YouTube videos in which people did not sing that well.
“False” Dwight Schrute, who is he? Dwight (played by Rainn Wilson), is a sale representative at a paper distribution company, Dunder Mifflin on NBC’s The Office. Trying to explain someone like Dwight is complicated, because you must start at the beginning to really understand what kind of person you are dealing with. There are no words that accurately describe and grasp the true complexity of his thoughts and actions, making Dwight one of those instances where actions speak louder than words.
In the book “Two Kinds” by Amy Tan, it’s about a little girl who is pressured by her mother to become something she doesn’t want to be. Jing- mei , the daughter, is forced to become a prodigy(child actress), by her mother, and she doesn’t want to be one. In the story, Jing- meis’ mother uses allusions such as Shirley Temple to push her into becoming a prodigy. Although at first Jing- mei is excited to become a prodigy, she later realizes its something she just doesn’t enjoy doing. Consequently, the uses of allusion in the story help Jing- mei discover to not be a prodigy and that what her mother wants for her is not always important.
